I think I perfected the brewing conditions of this tea (on the last bit of looseleaf I had, so I now don’t have any)

To cut the licorice-ness, steep for a short length of time (2-3 minutes). The peppermint steeps faster than the other ingredients so you get a peppermint blend with some other after-notes. I really wish I could taste the clove, but so far I’ve never tasted it.The larger clove pieces probably got used up first because big pieces will gather at the top of the bag while the tiny mint dust bits end up at the bottom.

Anyway, I’m happy to use it up but I did end up liking this more without the licorice metallic notes. I’ve upped the rating because normal people don’t forget about a tea for as long as I did last time and today’s steep most accurately reflects a typical steep.

I don’t love when they put a bunch of other things in there with mint when a tea could have just been mostly mint-focused. It just ends up kind of being a muddled mess. So here it’s sort of a murky mint along with some strangeness that I guess is from the clove? Not too delicious a combination of ingredients.

I love this stuff, it’s my sore-throat-cold-blech-nauseau-ugh go-to.

I think the main problem is that I tried this at the same time as Evening in Missoula, which just blew this one away. But I didn’t leave a numerical review in case the comparison made my judgment unfair!

I like Evening in Missoula too. For me, one is definitely a “sick tea” for me, the other is just a nice evening herbal. :-)

Throwback… Tuesday? Had a bad stomach migraine today so I was having horrible nausea/stomach pain/GI issues all day. Still am, really. So I haven’t managed to get to my teabox tea yet, even though I coldbrewed a big mason jar of it yesterday, because I just wanted nice soothing mint on my stomach. This tea is fabulous on a sore throat, but I’ve found it does help settle my stomach a bit if I sip on it slowly. The pain tends to return when the attack is bad, but a little more slow sippage tends to bring back some temporary relief. I’m down to one last serving and not sure how I’ll manage once it’s gone! I do have some other mint teas, but I just really find this one so tasty and soothing… I love the gentle flavor the clove and licorice root bring. I just can’t justify wasting the money on shipping to restock a single tea, and while I’m on hiatus I just am not going to make a bulk order, so I’ll have to do without for a little while, I guess. But I really do love this tea. Tasty and functional! Bumping up my rating on this one… it may be a basic blend, but the balance is great, it’s good warm, tepid, and iced, and the “soother” in the name is just so spot on!
