From Tazo

You don’t have to take up residency in a monastery to benefit from our rejuvenating green tea blend infused with crisp notes of spearmint, lemongrass, and lemon verbena. But we highly recommend trekking to a mountaintop sanctuary at least once—the views are breathtaking.

2020 Advent Swap – Day 16

One I’m sure you’ve tried before – I don’t drink many green teas but I love this one! Delightful taste!

I think you’re right, Devon Bartholomew – I’m almost positive I’ve have had this one before, but it’s been a really long time ago! I’m pretty sure Zen and Passion were the only Tazo teas my grocery store carried at first. For some reason, I remember them being everywhere. I don’t drink many green teas either, but there are a few that I do like. With this one having mint, it sounds promising. I can’t say I remember whether I liked it before or not.

I do taste the mint and, thankfully, not the lemongrass. I don’t mind lemongrass sometimes, but other times it tastes too much like artificial lemon flavor to me. Like lemon-lite. Flat lemonade, something like that. I don’t taste it much here. The mint dominates for me. My husband loved this one and requested that it go straight on the wishlist, so I’ll definitely be trying it again in the future.

Apparently I have a full box of this and not just a sample? I really need to make a spreadsheet!

Anyway, this is a green tea with lemon verbena that leans far more lemon than green. It isn’t a tart lemon, mind you. It’s a nice, pleasant lemongrass flavor. You can taste a little bit of the green; there’s a note of warm hay there that I like. I feel like a broken record here by saying it’s good for bagged, but that’s what I keep having to say. There are far nicer green teas out there with much more complex profiles. But if you are first waking up and need a quick pick-me-up, this works.

Ain’t gonna lie.

I like this and have always liked this. I might continue to like it forever more.

Good for a morning palate cleanser. Good for an afternoon pickmeup. Good for an evening cool down. Good iced.

Flavors: Grass, Green, Hot Hay, Lemongrass, Mineral, Spearmint

One of my simple favorites, too. I learned to love it on the road at writers’ conferences where you have to drink out of either Styrofoam cups or one travel mug that hasn’t been properly washed … the spearmint overcomes those inconveniences.

It tastes very nice, and is good in moderation. I just wish it were stronger.

A tea bag from Izzy! Thank you!
And I got this tea, almost two years ago, from derk. It flies; indeed. See: https://steepster.com/Martin-CZE/posts/388552 if you dare to read my old and somehow probably not accurate tasting note.

The aroma was weird. Familiar, not really awful, but bit artificial in minty way? Well, it contains natural flavours.

Brewed it is sooo hay-like. And lemongrass.
In taste not much better than last time. Terribly same. More lemongrass present than actual tea. Tingling tongue even. Oh well.

I can understand it’s favourite; it’s simple mint/hay tea. I would keep some in the cupboard if there is nothing but this tea. But won’t drink it regularly.

The first several sips, I didn’t like it at all. The more I kept having it and the more it cooled down, I thought it was very good. I think my initial distaste was due to never having had a tea with lemongrass. Halfway through the cup, I decided I really enjoyed it.

This tea was alright. Some nice citrus notes, a nice green tea flavor. Was able to get a couple of steeps.

This tea has good potential, but I feel like the quality has declined. It often turns out sour, no matter how I make it. I used to really like it, but recently it hasn’t quite been hitting the mark.
