Another new tea from this year’s Chai collection.
This’ll be a shorter tasting note than I usually write for new teas, but I do find this one pretty straight forward and also comparable to DT’s previous Chai Matcha. The big differences are that it’s a softer overall spice level with a distinct creamy/vanilla note to it. Think the difference between DT’s Earl Grey and Cream of Earl Grey matchas, and then just apply that to Chai. It’s obviously delicious and well suited to being made as a latte, as well!
Personally, I prefer the prior Chai Matcha but that’s mostly because it had a stronger and more distinct clove note and I like clove _ a lot._ I think I’m in the minority though, and this seems like it’s perhaps a little more approachable! But it’s pretty safe to assume that if you liked Chai Matcha you’ll like this one too.
Friendly reminder that I do not numerically rate DAVIDsTEA blends as I’m currently employed there and it would be an obvious conflict of interest. Any blends you see with numerical ratings were rated prior to my employment there. These reviews are a reflection of my personal thoughts and feelings regarding the teas, and not the company’s.
