From DAVIDsTEA

Baby, it’s cold outside

Got a blizzard on the way? Score! There’s no better excuse to cozy up inside with a great cup of tea. And this all natural chocolate-mint tisane is the perfect way to warm up on a chilly winter day. With peppermint, cacao nibs and dark chocolate drops, it’s sweet, creamy and oh-so comforting. The best part? Cute little snowflake-shaped sprinkles that add a touch of sweetness. Bring it on, winter!

Price per 50g: $7.98

I like this tea. I will drink this tea. I probably will not actively buy this tea again. The most I can appreciate is how it is different. It’s sweet and pepperminty, a common flavor, but there is something about it that is different. Perhaps that is why I don’t like it. There is a bitterness or something. At first I thought it was oversteeped green tea, but there isn’t any green tea!
I would still recommend this to try, at the least.

My first Davids Tea, Snow Day, day 1 of Advent Calendar sampler kit. I am a black tea with milk kinda gal, so this is taking my tea tasting in a completely different direction. Interesting, chocolatey , mint experience.

I got this as part of a set of holiday teas. I think the quality is ok but I’m not really a chocolate mint fan in general so that’s the reason for my lower rating. Tingly peppermint flavor coats your entire mouth. Chocolate flavor is very weak. I agree with the reviewer that says that the flavor gets stronger as the water cools.

I think this tea is OK, seems to have more flavor as it cools. It definitely has the peppermint tingle, and a faint chocolate flavor, but it just needs…more. I steeped plenty long, and used plenty of tea, so it seems more of a problem inherent to the tea than user error. I can totally see people liking this, maybe if they have more sensitive taste buds than I do. :) I just don’t have a personal need to get it again.

i am fond of mint, but this has an odd chemical taste to it that was not at all pleasant or refreshing. the initial taste was passable, but the aftertaste clung to the back of my mouth.

David’s Tea Advent Day 1: I must start off my saying that I had already bought 4 oz of this for a friend and housemate. I am so glad I did. When I tasted this tea for the Advent Calendar sample, I was impressed. First, it is a wonderful combination of mint and chocolate flavors. Its almost like an Andes candy in a glass. It also steeps at least twice (2 × 500 mL pots). And still has a decent combination of chocolate and mint. It really puts up a challenge to the Mint Chocolate tea from Harney and Sons except that one is a black tea.

You might like Davidstea Hot Chocolate (its a chocolate and PuErh tea blend) then also.

I am not a mint fan, in fact I detest it. I would not buy this tea again.

The first day of the Advent Calander I bought myself while in Toronto. Gotta say, its a good starting point. I’m a fan of Peppermint, so this is right up my alley. The mint is subtle though, not overwhelming like some I’ve had. I’d definitly drink this again, and may order it if it comes back in stock.

January Sipdown Prompt – A Tea That Goes with Snow

I think I have had this tea for five or six years. I don’t know why I pass over mint teas most of the time when I poke through the stash to see what I want. It just happens. I usually enjoy it when I drink it, and this was no exception. Considering the age, it was shocking how good it still tasted. And Ashman did not object to the chocolate flavor and chips in this!

I should have had it Saturday when we saw four confirmed snowflakes fall, though not at the same time. Ashman saw one in the backyard, I saw one on the patio, and daughter who lives with us saw two on the way to work! Exciting! Ha ha!

I wanted something caffeine free to drink tonight and knew it was high time to sip down this one, and also I had two Bissinger’s peppermint chocolates to eat that I thought would be perfect with this tea. It was perfect, oh so very perfect. This was not a sipdown but the next time I drink it will be, and now I have to go buy some sort of chocolate and peppermint treat to go with it. To have it otherwise would be wrong.

On that note, does anyone else think York Peppermint Patties just aint what they used to be? My mom loved them and I got some a few months ago and they were just…less delicious than I remembered. Less minty and less chocolatey both somehow.

Jen vB

I absolutely agree with your thoughts on York Patties! Last time I had one, I thought they must have changed the recipe. I remember the mint being really strong!

Superanna says Junior Mints might be my best bet for a readily available mint candy so I can finish my mint teas!

I usually avoid mint teas like the plague, but decided to give Snow Day a chance as it was Day 1 in the 2016 Advent Calendar (24 Days of Tea). I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this tea, especially given the very strong mint flavour. The sweetness from the chocolate and adorable snowflake sprinkles paired with the low caffeine content make Snow Day a great tea to enjoy on a cold winter night!
