From DAVIDsTEA

Everything nice
Some teas are great conversation starters. All you have to do is steep a cup and before you know it, people are asking “what is that wonderful smell?”, “did someone just bake a cake?” and of course, “can I have some?” This comforting black tea blend is no exception. With the warm aromas of cinnamon, cloves and vanilla, it smells and tastes like a spice cake fresh out of the oven. But consider yourself warned: you might want a little bit extra to share around…

Ingredients: Black tea, apples, cinnamon cassia, cloves, carrots, marigold petals, natural vanilla flavouring.

My last pre-move sipdown. I either had this today, or yesterday, I’m not actually sure. Moving requires many cups of tea it seems. This one is comforting and spicy. It helped me relax on whichever day that was. Only wish there was David’s by the future city.

Veronica

Good luck with your move!

Okay this is my 3rd or 4th time drinking the tea and it doesn’t taste as good to me as it did the first time. It doesn’t taste anything like spice cake and it sort of has an odd finish to it….Strange.

I admit I was a little skeptical when I heard there was carrots in this tea. I was like “No…not Carrot Cake again.” Not that Carrot Cake was bad but it took a lot to get used to it which is probably why I still have a full harvest tin. But I digress. Slowly I approached the big old silver tin and took a sniff.

It smelled heavenly, like spice cake or gingerbread. The vanilla totally added this warm note to it that sent the tea to a sweet place where it was all good. When I finally took it home it tasted just as good as it smelt. Very gingerbread without the ginger. If I was to compare this to any other chai it would have to be “Glitter and Gold” which is probably why it was able to win me over as it did.

I recommend this highly for anyone who loves chai and the joy of the season. Thanks David for bringing this one back. Especially for those who never got to try it when it first came out. Bon Appetit.

Another chance I took in my latest tea purchase bonanza. I read the reviews for this tea on Steepster (because it was on sale online) and thought “…this could be good. And if it’s bad…I have friends that like teas I don’t like. I’ll try it.” My expectations: what I wanted the Gingerbread tea to taste like, except caffeinated. And Gingerbread did not meet my expectations. So…take that with a grain of salt.

What I wanted from this tea was basically spice-cake. Or gingerbread cookies without the ginger part (since I hate ginger). I wanted warm spices, a bit of a sweetness in the background, some vanilla, and “something else”. The ingredients seemed to fit. And when I opened the bag…oh, boy. My nose was assaulted with all the right smells. “THIS IS PERFECT” I thought. “YOU’LL LOVE IT!!” I thought.

And…uuhh…I guess the smile with the eyes closed gives it away. This tea is exactly what I wanted, exactly what I expected, and tastes like a slightly milder version of how it smells (longer steep would have fixed that. Next time). It’s spice cake without the ginger, gingerbread without the ginger; spicy love in a cup. I can really taste the cinnamon, I can taste the cloves, I can taste the orange peel, and the sweetness of the vanilla. I can’t taste the carrots (oh, darn.) or the apples (I don’t think?) but neither of these I think add much of their own distinct taste. It’s more of a…blending flavour. Either way, what I can or cannot taste leads to a good cup of tea. One of my new favourites which is just stellar since it’s part of the fall collection and the reason why it was on sale is probably because they’re clearing their stock because it has been discontinued. The universe hates me.

Verdict: if the tea sticks around, I would buy it again.

I bought this along with Pumpkin Chai and I found this one to be a little sub-par. Don’t get me wrong, still great. Just a little uninteresting, kind of tastes like a lot of vanilla chais I’ve tried in the past.

Given the amount of Sugar and Spice tins left in a bunch of different David’s Tea stores, I think many people agree with you. It’s interesting because for me this is actually one of my favorite teas. I think it tastes like spice cake and I love that it fills my room with the delicious smells of baked goods every time I drink it!

I still think it’s nice, I guess I’ve had too many that taste similar. Did you make sure to stock up? The winter collection comes out on Friday. :)

VariaTEA

I actually went into David’s Tea today and bought 250 g. Something tells me this one won’t be coming back next year so I definitely made sure to grab it while I could.

VariaTEA

Although I am excited to have a whole new collection of teas to try! Plus I am excited to see David’s Teas new flavor of the month on Friday. However, I need to resist shopping for a while. I am sticking to tea swaps and drinking what I already own for a bit.

noyadefleur

Wow, that’s a serious commitment. Yeah, you’re probably right. Well, happy sipping. :)

So MRI last night. Was like being in a super slowed down Feindflug song. So now begins the waiting game and it is hard to get back to any normal state ..so much fear but denial is lovely this time of year. So as my gift for getting DT superfan status I got the new Fall Collection before anyone else..soot!

On to the tea.

I so love the smell of this tea ..it reminds me of these polish hard glazed with white sugar pastries with incredible chewy centres…..mmmmmm….memories.

I steeped to 5
And steeped a little less of the amount then recommended because I’m going to avoid bitterness.

The tea smells like the sweetened black tea my mom used to make for me ever since I can remember. This smells like the perfect comfort tea especially with all this stress it makes me feel like my mom is right beside me. This tea smells like home in comfy blankets and comfort everything.

As for taste..
Just a decent light black tea.
I’m a little disappointed for what it promised.
I barely taste anything but the base.

Just a very good but totally basic black tea with no extras. A real pity.
Maybe I’ll try to steep for 7 but I’m super hesitant.

I’ll stick with Glitter and Gold I think.

I got this one as a sample with one of my online orders. When I opened it, I immediately thought it smelled like carrot cake, and I was not wrong as there are actually some carrots in it! Interesting.

I’ve liked it a lot the first time I tried it, but today when I drank my last cup of it I felt like it was a less interesting version of Glitter & Gold. It’s quite similar in taste : both are very sweet and spicy. But I think Glitter & Gold is tastier. Anyway this one is also good and very drinkable on a cold day like today ! Better stay inside and drink lots of hot tea :)

I stocked up on this one too. Every time I brew it, it makes the room smell amazing and it tastes so good!!

I’m glad someone else shares my love because I don’t think this was a very popular tea

This is good, I enjoy it. But, I think it gave me a headache with the aroma of the cloves. I tend to be a tad bit sensitive to strong scents. It reminds me of an amped up version of glitter and gold. I get where they’re coming from in terms of the whole “Spice cake” thing they were trying to go for but straight it doesn’t work that way. I added a little brown sugar and a little extra vanilla extract and I think it helps since I like the rich yet subtly sweet teas. Not sure if I’d repurchase after I finish up my 15 gram bag, I haven’t quite formed a static opinion of it yet. But I think I like glitter and gold better, it’s just the right amount of spiceyness.

This was the first tea in the new fall collection I had the pleasure of trying. Apparently, this is the most popular tea in the new collection and after trying it, I can definitely see why (or rather taste why). This tea contains a lot of warm spices such as cinnamon (so it basically tastes like a “liquid spice cake in a cup”). Perfect for fall and even into winter! I will definitely be picking up more of this before it goes away!

Plunkybug

This is my fave for sure…though I do feel it is more a winter tea than a fall tea.
