Jolly Jellybean

This is much better than I thought it would be! I’m normally not a fan of rooibos, and thought the jellybeans would be gimmicky, but overall this is very nice. Fruity and light, and very appropriate for spring time. :)

mmmm sweet and refreshing. I wasnt sure because I dont like when theres a strong coconut taste but I really like this one

I never cared for this tea, but then I’ve always been a milk-and-sugar kind of girl. Now I’m on an ultra-restrictive diet (WHICH IS WORKING, I MIGHT ADD), and forced to take all of my beverages sans adornment.
HOLYMONKEY’SUNCLE, this is a tasty tea! I let it steep for longer than I wanted and I let it cool down for longer than I’d intended, but my goodness, is that coconut a great little taste when paired with rooibos.
It’s so creamy and PERFECT!

My bag that arrived in the mail had two jellybeans in it. I figured there would be more closer to the bottom, so I used them both on the first two cups. Ah, well. They didn’t add anything anyway.

I’m not a fan at all of coconut. There are a few teas I like it in only because I can’t taste it (Salted Caramel by DAVIDsTEA for one), but with this one? Not only did it give the tea a terrible taste (for me), but also a really funky smell when steeped. No matter how long I steeped it (anywhere from 3 minutes to 10 minutes just to try to get it to taste better), that funky smell lingered. I didn’t get any strawberry taste, and not much pineapple (although, I could smell it quite strongly).

I definitely won’t be buying it again. Not anywhere near my top 10 of DAVIDsTEA teas!

Tried this quite a few times but it never seemed to be the tea I imagined it would be.I honestly just ended up picking the jellybeans out of the bag and ate them instead of making the tea again.

It was worth a try but I think this was TOO gimmicky as a tea.At the end of the day it’s a sweet rooibos and the jellybeans only come out in flavor if you leave them to dissolve totally in the cup and don’t leave them in the strainer.

Fun concept just doesn’t work in practice.Thanks for the jellybeans though!

I used 3 scoops of dry leaf for 473 ml.

Creamy on the finish. I really enjoy the jelly bean aftertaste. There is no overtly artificial flavours that stand out despite the use of entire jelly beans which do contain artificial flavours along with some other highly-processed ingredients. The flavour that stands out the most to me is the strawberry which is nicely complimented with the coconut and pineapple flavours delicately in the background. I keep getting hints of grapefruit on the after-taste.

Drinking it cold, I noticed that the flavour is juicy.

Cold-brewed for 12 hours the earthiness of the rooibos seems to be more apparent. The creaminess is still there but appears more at the end of the sip.

The first davids tea I went to didnt have this in stock, apparently it is very popular. The second place I went had it but didnt have it for samples. I decided to go for the 100g since it was a special edition. The canister of jolly jellybean barely had any jellybeans. I ended up with 2 jelly beans in a 100g tin.

At first I was kind of bummed out but then I realize I am paying 7 dollars for 50g and jelly belly’s cost 4 dollars or less per 100g. So not a lost at all, If you do buy this tea and there are not jelly beans, just buy jelly bellys from the grocery store.

I noticed that this tea needs to be steeped longer as the taste is quite mild. I enjoy this tea, it has a nice sweetness to it. The only down side is that it has tiny leaves and when I use my timolino I need to empty the filter then drink, or all the tea will be in my mouth. I think this would be an excellent tea to just leave brewing in the timolino if it werent for the tiny bits.

What I do is I put 2-3 jelly beans and some more additional candied pinapple as I like sweet and fruity makes it super delicious if you let it steep for a while.

Coconut and pineapple! I thought this tea would be something I would really enjoy as those are normally a good indicator of great things about to happen. Now, I should say that I normally sweeten my teas following a fairly consistent process, just as I did when I tried Jolly Jellybean. The result was a drink that seemed to be all sweet and very little actual taste, not at all what I expected from a jellybean tea. I am planning to give this one a second chance to see if adjusting the process will make a difference.

I picked this one up a year and a half ago for Easter on sale. In the 100 g I bought, I was really disappointed to see only 1 jellybean. I’ve tried this tea hot, iced, and way oversteeped and no matter what I do with it, it comes out weak. The only thing I can taste is vague fruity flavour that seems like it’s trying to taste like strawberries without success. I was majorly disappointed and won’t be buying this one again.
