This blackberry flavoring is so strong! And it’s very clearly blackberry, which is fun to see. It’s a tiny bit artificial, but I can forgive it. I don’t taste much lavender, but maybe I’ll add some to my second steep – it’s just a hint, whereas I’d prefer 50/50. I’m drinking this cool with milk. I’m enjoying it for that strong blackberry flavor, but I don’t think I’d order it again.

I really enjoy this as a cold brew. My last pitcher was almost 8g in 1L, brewed overnight. Lots of blackberry flavoring, not sweet but with a bit of tartness maybe from the freeze-dried raspberries. The lavender isn’t too strong for me — overbearing lavender can give me headaches but I’ve never had one with this tea. I think it tastes great with the blackberry flavoring. The black tea is strong enough to stand on its own while still supporting the blackberry and lavender. It tastes coppery like a Ceylon, which surprised me because it’s an Assam.

Blackberry Lavender tastes the same brewed hot as it tastes brewed cold. It’s a little tricky to get my preferred hot cup since the black tea brews quickly. A teaspoon in 8oz seems about right. I do prefer this flavor profile cold.

Ooh, that does sound nice!

I really liked this one

I have just a few hoarded Advent CG samples left, but I think it’s all down to wintery stuff. If I tasted this one, I don’t remember it. (Then again, I lost a bottle of Tylenol that was in my hand last Friday and I still can’t find it.)

CuppaGeek Advent Calendar – Day 15

This was the first tea I made today. I saw “Lavender” and was really disappointed and honestly just wanted to get it out of the way. So I brewed it and then my brother-in-law’s mom and stepdad arrived. Because of Covid, we stayed socially distant from the house but my brother-in-law suggested we take the extra precaution of wearing masks. That sort of put a stop to my drinking plan so by the time I finally drank it, it was cold.

I didn’t have high hopes for it but honestly its not bad. The blackberry is the star and a really nice blackberry flavor. It’s sweet and distinct and juicy and reminds me of something I can’t quite place. The lavender peaks through at the end but is not overly perfume-y or offensive. It sort of bolsters the lavender so I am ok with it and am actually really enjoying this cold. I wonder if the balance of flavors is different when its hot?

I had it hot and felt the lavender was subtle. My husband liked it and he would not have if the lavender had been strong.

Nichole/CuppaGeek

I’m not a huge fan of lavender so I blend this one up to my tolerance level, haha.

Cuppageek Advent Day 14

Though a front blew through and took away our spring like weather, it finally stopped gusting this afternoon and the sky went from deep dark to just cloudy. My husband is home so I made three steeps of this combined and I put on a scarf and we sat in the rockers while he took a break from putting in more outside lights.

This is a base he really likes. I am guessing it is the same base as the vanilla black. There are a lot of black teas he only likes with milk and sugar and sometimes it will be a rather mild or smooth tea that he feels that way about it, and then something like this that is slightly brisk and malty, he will like plain. I haven’t figured him out yet.

Bottom line, we both liked it! The lavender is light which was good in his book as he says he doesn’t like things to be TOO floral, and the blackberry was nice and berry-tart. Another I would considering ordering so as to have more tea the two of us both enjoy.

I am so glad I took a pouch of this while ordering an Advent Calendar!

It’s just right; 4 minutes steeps provide bold base with blackberry tartness and fruityness. Lavender is mellow and adding little of the floral notes needed.

It was a kind of blind buy; as I never had anything from Cuppa Geek before the Advent, and yet I decided to add some blackberry teas — I was craving for them black them.

I hope I won’t ran out fast of this tea :D

day 7 advent
yes i’m behind…drinking the teas every day but have been incredibly exhauster by the end of the day and too busy during the day. I was a fan of the blackberry flavour in this one – worried about the lavender…but shouldn’t have been. If you like floral teas, this one might disappoint as i didn’t really get lavender from it…which is great for me, but bad for someone looking for that. :)

Another one I am hoping to bump into in my calendar!

I was disappointed in the first steep of this tea, as it was rather bland. I tried a second steep, and actually forgot it was brewing, so it steeped a good while. It was very forgiving in that it was not bitter after oversteeping, and the blackberry was much more prominent. Overall it was just ok.

I bought a pouch of this tea, so I hope I will like it more :)

Michelle

You could try a 5 minute steep to really bring out the blackberry out. Not much lavender here.

Martin Bednář

Note to self: try longer steeps :D Thanks for your insight Michelle
