The was slightly sweet with a hint of citrus. I don’t like too strong citrus, so just a hint of it was fine with me.
The oolong is not the best quality out there, but it is still smooth and buttery.
I am fairly happy with this one for such a great price….I got 25g for 72cents!
2nd steep: 95degrees, 7min, less buttery, more citrus, still fairly decent.

Oooh, I’m going to have to peek and see if my local Bulk Barn has this one!

So this is another of the samples I got from bulk barn. and yes, this is looseleaf this time!
Funny, the “tea” part tastes almost just like that of the white apricot tea I had last night. There is a touch of that same watery flavour I mentioned in the white tea post as well, though not nearly as strong. I wonder if it’s the same vendor, and if there are any common ingredients. Hmmm.
Anyhow, when it was still hot, I tasted something spicy in there, but now that it’s cooled I can’t find it anymore, sorry I can’t elaborate more on that!
And the orange… it really comes through! I added a dash of sugar to help it along, which really brought it out some more. There is a moment when swallowing that makes me think I could actually be eating an orange slice, and it lingers long after the sip to. This is very refreshing! I would love to try it iced one day.
I added some milk and tried a touch of it separately in a teacup(I do this with most new teas), very nice as well! Bravo Orange Oolong, bravo :)
Oh and the aroma… that alone makes the tea worthwhile. I LOVE the smell of tangerine.
Yes, I think I will replace this one when I finish the sample! I was quite unsure at first but the cup really grew on me. I just wish I had time for a second steep before heading out for the afternoon…

I got some of this, along with the blackcurrant black at bulk barn. Haven’t tried this yet, but encouraged by your review. With a price like that, I so want to love it !: )

What was I thinking? Picking up loose tea samples today at Bulk Barn to try them out. I’ve had some before in the past and never liked them but thought I would try some new ones, thinking – you just never know. Since I joined Steepster and have been ordering teas online it seemed I’ve just got to have that new taste sensation all the time. I’m guessing there are a few like me here on Steepster. And yes, a whole bunch of Bulk Barn teas came up on Steepster so I don’t feel so alone anymore.

So anyway, this smelled quite nice dry. Just a hint of orange. Oolong looked to be a decent quality so brewed it up at the temp I used for oolong, I think around the 190. I can smell the light orange in it but the flavour is awful. What kind of cheap oolong did they use is this? Okay, maybe it’s not that bad, but it’s certainly not good. I’m probably spoiled from all the good milk oolong I’ve been drinking lately.

Bleh. This tea smells amazing and orange-y when dry, but it brew up murky and the orange smell is much more chemically. And the taste . . . like badly-cooked pork. I can think of no other way to describe it. Bleck bleck bleck.

I forgot Bulk Barn sold loose leaf tea. This is one of four that I picked up and it was the one I was most looking forward to trying. I was very saddened to see that it was the lowest rated of the four on Steepster though!!
Well, I’ve since tried it and it’s not bad. The orange tastes a little artificial and the taste isn’t as orangey as the scent was, but I wouldn’t kick it out of bed for trying. ;)
Still very drinkable, I just wouldn’t steep it too long in case it becomes bitter or too astringent.

I used to drink this tea all the time and then I got distracted by all kinds of other lovely tastes. I’ve had this tea sitting in a not very air tight bag for quite a long time, so I think it may have lost some of its complexity, but even still, it’s lovely.

Earthy, nutty, a bit vegetal, and fresh, distinct orange notes, that give it a tiny bit of tang without it being tart at all. Not at all bitter or astringent.

I missed you old friend. I’m glad we’re back.

Not a stellar tea, but pretty decent for the cost. I might pick up some small caramel cubes and add them to see if I can replicate Orange Brulee from Della Terra.

The main thing here is the orange note. It’s kind of an orange creamsicle kind or orange…sweet and vanilla cream. Unfortunately, it does overshadow the oolong, but it really isn’t half bad. It’s super cheap, and it might be ok every now and again, and some tweaking by making some additions may help too. I may also look at adding milk to enhance creaminess. I also think this might make a nice cold brew in warmer temps.

I don’t think this is as bad as some people have noted, but I can understand the fake orange being an issue for some. I personally feel that the sweet orange is the best compliment to this kind of oolong. but it could be me.

Ysaurella

orange and Oolong seem to pair well, I didn’t think about this combination before. Maybe it didn’t work as much in this tea but I think it may really work.

Plunkybug

It does, yes. But the right oolong. I think.

Nothing but artificial orange flavour in this bad boy. Don’t bother with this one. Bulk Barn has good teas, but this is not one. Tried it again, this time was worse than the last. I’ve thrown the rest out.

Bought this on a whim last time I was at the bulk barn. I have to say (as odd as it may be) that it taste like it came from the bulk barn, you know that scent that things from the bulk barn can sometimes take on? I was hoping it would be a little bit like Della Terra’s Orange Brulee oolong but not a chance! Defiantly will not be buying again!
