A WARM BLEND OF CINNAMON & CREME BLACK TEAS, RED ROOIBOS, AND SUBTLE HINTS OF EGGNOG & RUM FLAVORS
Ingredients: Ceylon Black Tea, Red Rooibos, Cinnamon Bits, Natural Cinnamon, Creme, Rum & Eggnog Flavors
It seems somehow appropriate that this ended with another rooibos. I plan to spent January on the Bird & Blend advents & samples, but I am thrilled by the idea of a February where I don’t taste a single drop of wood chip tea.
There’s sweetness to this one as well as the rooibos, but it mostly seemed like a vanilla with some unknown light spices. I can’t say I’ve ever had eggnog or would know how it compares. This was a miss for me.

In all, I enjoyed this calendar and exploring some new teas from an interesting brand. It surprised me that the calendar only duplicated one tea from my original sampler order of 18 varieties, and I still didn’t get to taste a few that I’m very curious about, so there’s a lot to explore!

So I like eggnog, but this doesn’t taste anything like it to me.
It mostly just tastes like woody rooibos, with a touch of mustiness to it. There’s a little bit of cinnamon in the aroma, but I don’t get any in the taste. And certainly no nutmeg or creaminess, which would be what would make it eggnog.
A disappointing end to the advent.

I was sad when the advent sold out before I could buy one, but I noticed your reviews were sort of medium for it. Would you buy it again, or did you feel that once was enough?
I probably wouldn’t, there were a few I liked but none that were must-buys, and most were just meh for me. Although obviously it’s very subjective, you might enjoy them much more!
I felt the same way when I got the advent a few years ago. The punny tea names were probably the best part.
It’s worth noting, I think they blend with a lot of Adagio teas, and I don’t like Adagio so I’m not surprised to not love these teas either.
Yeah I wasn’t blown away by the flavors from last year’s calendar, but I enjoyed having it. I’ll probably go ahead and skip it next year…on purpose this time!
I didn’t realize they were using Adagio teas! They have been mostly miss with the occasional hit for me, so it makes sense I feel the same about this company.
I don’t know that for sure, it just seems that way to me based on the ingredients.

I mean, the eggnog direction is spot on in terms of high seasonal flavours but the tea itself was a bit bland and flat. I got a hint of cream and a hint of spice but there were a lot of other stronger and richer creamy or even flat out ‘eggnog flavoured’ teas in other advents so the miss here felt that much more noticeable…

Monday 4/11/21 — another busy weekend at work means I barely had time to run to the restroom or get sleep much less get much tea drinking done. I’m doing the overnight shift tonight (Monday) so focusing on getting headway on my sip downs during the day. Also I’m doing the April #2021steepsterchallenge “Ode to Tea” and trying to only use teas from swaps/gifted from IG/steepster pals. I have 23/26 letters covered (if I have time I’ll see what I can do for other 3 letters in my 34028420349343423489032 stash of tea). This tea was made into a plain & hot latte with breakfast, and unfortunately no sight, smell, or taste of eggnog just rooibos and black tea with milk so half of this made tea went to Micah. Thanks to amandastory516 for this tea. I usually like rooibos/black tea mixes, so I was looking forward to this one. I have to say that it’s not too spectacular. The main flavor is the rooibos, which isn’t a particularly great rooibos. I really got no sense of anything at all eggnog. No spices or anything. Just a not that great rooibos flavor. It was a little better with milk.
