Plain, this is really savory and earthy tasting. Since there’s a lot of chicory here, I added sugar and almond milk, and now it tastes similar to a Teeccino blend without much flavoring. I definitely prefer Teeccino. Now I feel like I’m mostly tasting the almond milk. This one just isn’t at all pleasant to drink without the extra help. I guess I don’t get it.

I’m glad I only bought the zodiac sampler because of the 12 teas, there’s really only one I’d like to have again.

Sipdown (2315)!

Well, no beating around the bush for this one. I feel like this has definitely been the most literal interpretation of the zodiac blends yet (even more so than “fiery Aries”). Someone read down to earth and not only took that literally but took it as a challenge to pack as many different roots and ‘natural tasting’ ingredients into this blend. It’s very earthy.

Thing is… I kind of didn’t mind it? I don’t know that I’d ever reach for it again as I think I own many other earthy/roasty tasting teas utilizing these ingredients that are just better balanced and better tasting overall. However, the heavy roast and minerality is a flavour that I kind of like and it had a sort of ‘chicory coffee’ type of vibe to it that I’ve been pretty into in the last year.

All that said… I can see most people finding this offensive tasting. It’s not subtle in its delivery and it’s got a lot of polarizing flavours.

This review is mostly a warning for people who might be tempted to blind buy a big tin of this. Don’t. It’s quite possibly the most unpleasant tisane I’ve ever tasted. Disharmonious mix of liquorice, celery, dirt, dandelion and fenugreek. Not up to Bird & Blend’s usual standard at all.
