From Aiya

Kukicha literally means “stem tea” and is made from different varieties of tea stems. Aiya’s Kukicha is a blend of stems from Gyokuro and Sencha. Most of Kukicha available in the market is made by stems from 100% Sencha, however, Aiya’s Kukicha is adding more than 50% of Gyokuro stems for more natural sweetness and rich aroma.

Backlog:

A really delightful Kukicha. The flavor is not quite as vegetative as the aroma might suggest. It has a light, sweet, nutty flavor, with hints of vegetation. The vegatal notes are more savory than sweet, which offers a compelling contrast to the sweet nutty tones. Really nice texture.

Aiya is definitely one of my favorite tea companies because they consistently offer high quality products.

Took this from the TTTTB!

This was actually one that I didn’t sample, but I smelled it and it smelled sooo good so I just took it, hoping that my nose wasn’t playing with me. Crossing my fingers that this is a great tea!
Smells very green. Much like nori. Reminds me of that one green tea from December’s Steepster Select box; Karigace #22.
Opaque, light green liquor.
Slight vegetal taste, not as vegetal as other straight greens I’ve had and I really like this tea! Good job, nose. You’ve done well :)

I really have enjoyed the kukicha that I’ve had before.
