White Pear

I used 2.5ish tsp for what I’m guessing is a 16 oz mug, with 4 adagio rock sugar crystals brewed for exactly 3 minutes. I tried this tea yesterday as well with fewer leaves (following the package recommendation of 1 heaping tsp) and no sugar, and both times I didn’t really enjoy it. It tastes pretty boring and I didn’t get a single hint of pear (or any fruit, really). I love white teas because of their delicate flavor, but this one was just kind of smothering and left a weird film in my mouth. 3/10, would not buy again.

Oh look, another advent tea that I already own!

I didn’t mind that though, to be honest. In general I like pear teas and on top of that I do have a soft spot for Adagio’s “mono flavoured” white blends – there aren’t very few I dislike. This was a predictable mug in the best way, with a lovely pear note. Sweet and just a little bit juicy – but not as much as the typical Bartlett. Bosc was actually the varietal that first came to mind, but in reflection I’m not totally sure that’s quite right either. It was like there was a champagne-esque sweet top note but the body was a little more soothing and comforting…

Regardless, I enjoyed it. I think it was my favourite of the day.

This is another of the Adagio white teas I got from Meowster’s cupboard clearout a couple summer’s ago (thanks Meowster!). I had enough leaf for one warm cuppa that I made a few nights ago to sip on while I read graphic novels, and then I used the majority to make a quart of cold brewed iced tea, my preferred way to drink flavored white tea.

I definitely prefer this one iced to the warm cuppa (not that the warm cup was bad), but I just find the fruity pear on the white base comes out very refreshing as an iced brew. The base on this white is strongly autumn leaf in flavor, and that strong earthy/vegetal flavor may be why it presents a little nicer to me iced, perhaps. The pear flavor is actually pretty nice — it’s no 52Teas pear flavor, but it’s decent enough. It tastes like pear and isn’t coming off oddly artificial, it just doesn’t taste as particularly juicy as other pear flavorings I have tasted on other teas. I sort of wish the base white tasted more like the hay/melon notes I got from the White Tangerine tea as I think that would go better with the pear flavor than the autumn leaf/wood notes I’m getting from this base… and the more strange thing is I wouldn’t be surprised if Adagio is using the same base and only changing the flavorings/additives.

On opening the package, I was surprised to find it didn’t smell as good as I’d expected. Smells a tad grassy. It’s not nearly as fruity as I thought it would be, either. Definitely needs honey.

So i had purchase this tea and came here first to see the reviews. Ive never seen so many negatives review on a tea, so i mentally prepared myself and decided it to drink it cold. i just meh! i have to agree with a lot of the reviews out there saying its bitter even steeped cold. But i think it would be worst hot.

The pear is very weak. I would prefer more pear taste, but it is ok otherwise.

I’m not too sure how I feel about this one. It’s pretty simple. I don’t usually care for pears because of the texture of them, so I don’t really know if this tea tastes like pears or not… It’s nice, but I don’t think I’d get this one again. It’s got a bit of sweetness to it, but yeah… I dunno.

This is a light tea with subtle pear smell and taste. Nice and refreshing.

As much as I love pear flavored things and white tea. This did not do it for me. It has a very off taste that sits on the tongue that’s not very pleasing at all. The taste can be compared to the taste of rotten fruit. But that’s just my opinion to someone else it might be something else entirely.

That aside, whoa I have not been on here in ages!! Mostly because I have been uber busy. Plus I have not been drinking a lot of tea due to the hot weather that has been soaring as of late. That aside I am now out from underneath my father’s roof and living with my fiancee’. We’ve been moved out for two or three weeks now. She’s been down here for almost a month now, after having moved out of her parent’s home in Ohio. It’s been great having her down here and so close. Fixing up the rent house and having to buy things for the house has been very hectic. While there were certain things I didn’t have to buy, there was a lot that needed to be bought still yet. Through all of that we somehow managed to get settled in and have gotten the chaos under control. Thus far actually having to pay bills has not become too overwhelming. Now that we’ve put down roots here I am actually enjoying my time on my own. Which helps having her here, because there’s no way I would adjust to a new place so soon. Especially after having lived in my old house for almost 10 plus years.

Delicious white pear flavor. I mean, this is a white tea with pear flavor. It tastes of pear and white tea. That is all you could ask from white pear tea eh? :)

I’m super picky with whites and this is one of the few I’ve really, really liked. :)
