White Blueberry

I didn’t approach this initial review with great expectations – I am away from home, and had to deviate from my filtered water and thermometer approach – so it was Chicago tap and eyeballing the water in a saucepan….so theoretically 180F steeped for 4 mins.

That being said, I loved this tea. It did just what it said it would on the packet – soft taste, hint of blueberry and very refreshing aftertaste – so much so that I had to rummage through the trash to check they hadn’t stuck some mint in there (they hadn’t).

None of the metallic/bitter taste I experienced with the other white tea I have tried (Snow Geisha), and no need for any sugar, for me at least it was plenty sweet. As I am sipping it now,, it reminds me of cream soda for some reason. Go figure. No blueberries in that, surely?

All that and 7.5 Oz cost me about 20 bucks, which is a steal compared to where I have been shopping recently,

Best white flavoured tea ever in my limited experience.

I bought this to have another white tea to drink when my reflux acts up. I had to choose between 1.5 ounces and 8 ounces with nothing in between-what’s up with no 3 or 4 ounce options, Adagio? 8 ounces of white is A LOT of tea! Glad I only bought 1.5 ounces. Anyhow, in comparison with Teavana’s Strawberry Paraiso (another recent white purchase) this is at least mostly tea.

In fact, the few blueberries I found are covered with tea dust and not easy to find. Still the blueberry flavoring is very natural and provides a pleasant aroma with the dry leaf. The leaves themselves are broken in fairly large pieces and are various shades from medium green to medium brown. The liquor brews a nice golden color that somehow comes across in the taste. Again, the blueberry is natural. It’s sweet, but is improved with a teaspoon of sugar. I even tried a steep with cinnamon and brown sugar added. Not bad if you can find the right ratio, but it makes for a heavier tea. I got two steeps out of my leaves, which is okay, I suppose.

I have had this tea for a while, and it is the only white tea I have. Today I am having it iced for the first time. I guess I can’t comment much on the white tea flavor since I have so little experience with it, but the blueberry flavor is there without being overwhelming or artificial. This was refreshing on this humid summer day.

I made sure to shake up the bag a little bit before opening it, so I could make sure that I didn’t have the same problem a friend of mine had (all the blueberry bits sitting near the bottom of the bag). Once I opened it, holy crap, the smell of blueberries hit me. In a good, sweet, fresh blueberry kind of way.

For the first pot of tea, I let it steep for 3 minutes and then took the basket out and set it aside. The smell of blueberries seemed to be even stronger than it was when I first opened the bag (which I totally didn’t think was possible). It has a light, sweet taste and was good until the last drop.

For the second pot, I used the same batch of tea leaves from the first and just steeped it for an extra minute and a half or so (4.5 minutes instead of 2.45-3). It was a little bit lighter in taste, but still delicious.

I just noticed that most of the blueberries in my tin fell through the leaves and landed on the bottom. It makes sense to stir leaves to spread berries more evenly each time before brewing.

I’ve had a bit of a rough time with Adagio teas because a lot of them seem too artificial, sweet, or one-note. Oddly, I think that this combination worked for this tea. I think it’s mainly because the taste reminds me of blueberry muffins. It also works well with the subtle white tea as the background. Anyway, it’s a nice, sweet tea to have after dinner that doesn’t have too much caffeine to keep me awake all night.

Alright so my first review on Adagio tea, I actually bought this online from what i thought was a local tea company but turned out to be just a reseller…oh well i’ll know better for next time.

the smell of the dry leaves reminds me of sour blueberries, i’m hoping the tea isn’t.

the steeped tea smells amazing! blueberries! mmmmmmm…

taste is not as blueberry as i would of liked but nice nonetheless, you really taste the tea and it leaves a nice aftertaste in my mouth.

This is an excellent white tea. The blueberry flavor is light—fruity, but not sickeningly sweet.

Well, I forgot that I was cold-brewing this. Like, majorly forgot. As in, it may have been in there for a few days… I tried to drink it anyway, just to see. It kind of tasted, hmm, straw like? I’m not really sure how describe it. I really need to post reminders on the fridge when I cold brew :’(
