Sipdown
A fun tea – magically blue/green. I think I used most of this cold brewing.
Fruity, kind of funky aftertaste (bamboo). Refreshing, grassy.

I noticed as I drank a lot of it that the bamboo flavor kept building and I started to dislike it. I probably wouldn’t get this again.

When I purchased from AQ2T last, this was the tea I was most excited to try. I’ve been wanting to try a “magic” tea (butterfly pea flowers) for a long time, yet somehow I only brewed my sample up this morning.

I first brewed it hot (~75 deg C) for three minutes until it was blueish in colour. Then, I stock in a glass in a fridge to coldbrew until I got home (~3 hours brewing). Both cups were very enjoyable. The coldbrewed cup was mostly because I wanted to add a touch of lemon juice and watch it change colour (blue → reddish purple). It was too acidic for me with the lemon juice, so I added some sweetener. It made for a fruity coldbrew reminiscent of juice.

I can taste some floral in here, but most prominent is the white tea base (delicious!). I get some citrus (lemon grass? dried fruit? I’m not sure), vegetal notes from the white tea (and possibly also the bamboo), something fruity like raisins or figs. A few hints of vanilla and prune also.

Overall, this is a really unique tea that delivers in the “interesting” and “tastes good” categories. I like that the white tea base comes through because the flavours are not overpowering it.

Butterfly pea blossoms may be gimmicky but it’s a gimmick I love. Give me more blue tea!

Too me it tastes like floral black currant gummies. Rose tends to come across as “candy-like” to me though.. probably due to the long association with Turkish Delights. It also has a dry and sharp characteristic that I hope I can curb in an iced batch.

I’m a sucker for cornflower…just makes the dry blend so pretty!

I also love cornflowers.. anything blue really!

Sipdown! This was sent as a free sample along with my latest order. Unfortunately, I didn’t taste any of the berry flavours referenced by the other reviewer – I just found the tea to be somewhat medicinal. (There’s a small possibility that I swapped this tea and Scarborough Fair by accident, but I don’t really think so.) Current ratings assume I didn’t swap them!

Another blue tea. Lovely smell, lovely leaves. Blueberry, or currant, and roses are what I smell and taste every time. Fruity overall. And nice.
