“(52teas (Anne) 2022: 258) Nice cup of this tonight – light spicing, some nuttiness, smooth base. When I opened the packet, the smell reminded me strongly of one of Butiki’s pumpkin teas, so that...” Read full tasting note
“I like this black tea. It’s pretty deep and malty. The pumpkin flavoring is lighter than I’d prefer. I wouldn’t really be able to tell that it’s supposed to be pumpkin flavor if I didn’t know...” Read full tasting note

Description

Tea of the Week for November 2, 2020!

My favorite way to prepare pumpkin pie is to top the pie with candied (praline) pecans. This tea is kind of inspired by that idea, but instead of pecan essence, I used Hazelnut essence because – why not? It sounded yummy when I was coming up with the recipe, so I went with it.

The base is a blend of several Yunnan grown black teas: Bu Lang, Zheng Shan Xiao Zhong & Menghu Assamica. Together, they create a very rich yet smooth tasting base – I’m noticing very little astringency here & absolutely no bitterness. Just smooth, deliciously rich flavor. To this blend, I added a bunch of freeze-dried pumpkin, a little bit of cinnamon & nutmeg & hazelnut & praline essences to create a rather delectable cuppa. Truly a delight!

Because of the base I used here – this particular blend is a one-of-a-kind blend & one that I’ll not likely reblend anytime soon (if at all) – so it’s one that you need to grab while it’s here because once it’s gone, it may not return. Supply is EXTREMELY limited. Despite the Hazelnut essence, this IS nut-free. It is also VEGAN & gluten-free!

ingredients: black teas
