Praline Pumpkin Black Tea

Nice cup of this tonight – light spicing, some nuttiness, smooth base. When I opened the packet, the smell reminded me strongly of one of Butiki’s pumpkin teas, so that was interesting. Must be some common, and unique, spicing.

I like this black tea. It’s pretty deep and malty. The pumpkin flavoring is lighter than I’d prefer. I wouldn’t really be able to tell that it’s supposed to be pumpkin flavor if I didn’t know already. It’s interesting to have pumpkin in a non pumpkin spice context. I guess this tea is pretty squashy now that I’m thinking about it. My second cup of this I enjoyed even more than my first. The flavors are subtle, but super enjoyable and high quality. I wish I had more of this one. I turned out to really like it.

I was thinking of Anne today (and what a pleasure it is that she and her creations are in our tea community). And also, given my unfortunate days with Boston and Apricot, I had really been looking forward to one of Anne’s blends.

This one absolutely works for me. The pumpkin is fully present, gentle but there. Likewise for the hint of spice and whispering of something nutty. And I love this base, smooth and lovely. A winner in my books.

Note that that the flavours here are not necessarily pumpkin pie-like, but all the elements are present, so it is rather an interpretation. I appreciate that this blend is not sweetened, leaving that option with the steeper. Honey and milk would likely be a fine addition, but I am quite content to drink it black.

Chocolate alongside is nice too. Particularly Blonde chocolate.

Not much to add about this one, but I’m excited about my sipdown progress. Today is difficult. Bleh.

Need to get cracking on these 52teas November teas, as I got a notification that my December box shipped yesterday…

This one wasn’t my favorite. The base was malty and bready and delicious, but I feel like the flavoring just came off a little artificial? I had the same issue with some of the nut teas from the Plum Deluxe advent though, so maybe it’s just me…

I also get a little bit, but not quite enough, of each component. So a little pumpkin, a little caramel, a little nut, a little spice… But it just doesn’t add up to something great, it comes out a bit muddled for me. I think if it was meant to be a pumpkin pie with praline topping, maybe a bit stronger on the pumpkin would have been nice.
