This tea had kind of an unusual beginning. My first thought was to create a snickerdoodle genmaicha blend. But after my first taste test, I had a weird thought & said, you know what this blend needs? Banana! Hence, a cinnamon banana blend was born.
Yeah, blending sometimes goes like that. I have an idea, & somewhere along the line, another idea emerges. It has happened with many blends I’ve created. I guess that’s the thing with being a mad tea artist. I can create something – & really, the blend can come out really quite nicely. The snickerdoodle one is like that. It came out pleasantly enough but my taste buds just weren’t feeling it when I tasted it. It tasted really good but I wasn’t feeling it – the truth is that I probably just wanted a banana tea.
Let’s face it, is there ever a WRONG time for a banana tea? I mean, come on!
to brew: give this blend a good shake before you measure it. I say that a lot, I know. But this one has a lot of ingredients in it – banana, cinnamon, marshmallow root, vanilla bean … not to mention the genmaicha tea – & it’s important to get those ingredients well-incorporated throughout. measure out 2 1/2 grams (if you want a stronger flavor, go with 3 grams. I used 2 1/2 grams & it creates a light tea that’s really ideal for the summer, I think, but if you’re looking for a stronger flavor, definitely go with the 3g.) heat 12 ounces of freshly filtered, cold water to 175°F & allow to steep for 2 minutes. strain & allow to cool for at least 5 minutes. enjoy!
This blend tastes wonderful hot or iced. I find that a little bit of sugar brings out the flavors a bit more – but it’s really nice unsweetened too.
