From 52teas

Just in time for Halloween! We’ve blended Young Hyson and Gunpowder green teas, freeze-dried blueberries and organic flavors to create the most amazing blueberry cotton candy flavored green tea EVER. I will NOT be able to reblend this one right now, as this used up the last of my green teas for the moment, so don’t miss out!

Our Tea of the Week for the week of October 8, 2012

Everyone! I am sad/panicking because I just went to steep my first cup of this from my recent order, and there are no blueberries to be found! I know my 12 days of christmas sample had many, is this normal? Did anyone else get any recently without? I will email Frank but I thought I’d ask first, because part of what I loved about this tea was the plump blueberries within.

Sweet Canadian

Peeps you can’t just like this I need to know haha.

Kittenna

To my knowledge, I had no blueberries in my 12 Days of Christmas sample. Zero. And I just used 3/4 of it today. I can’t truly remember the first cup, but I didn’t think it had any either…

Kittenna

Also, lol @ the likes and lack of responses ;) And your comment to that effect!

Sweet Canadian

Haha I agree Kittenna, I was like this is not something to like! There is no dislike button! My sample had a lot, but for some reason this bag has none. I actually used the last ones from the sample for tonight’s tea.

Frolic

Sometimes they settle so you have to shake it up.

Sweet Canadian

Definitely missing then as I dumped the whole bag into bowl to see if that was the case.

Oh boo-berry, where have you been?

Today has been a crappy day. In the midst of a panic attack and running out of ideas of what to do I remembered my tea had come this morning. I figured the caffeine was low enough it shouldn’t make things worse so I’d give it a go.

How can it be so sweet without tasting sweetened? Frank how do you work your magic? It’s not overly sweet it’s just right. I’m drinking it hot and plain and the blueberries are juicy, the coton candy is delish and the marshmallowness lurks in the background.

I used 1.25 tablespoons of dry leaf for 375 ml of water.

Smokey green tea and licorice-berry flavour on the sip. Cotton candy sugary sweetness in immediate aftertaste.

As the tea cools, I am noticing that the flavour is quite mild.

Now that I’m not going crazy with work and Christmas prep I have time to go back and review the teas that I missed from the sampler.

Blueberries + cotton candy + green tea seems like an odd combination at first glance but somehow this blend manages to make it work, and work well. This green tea base seems to work particularly well with sweet, ‘candy’ flavours – lime jello, marshmallow and, in this case, cotton candy. The cotton candy is only half the story with this blend, as actually the first thing I taste on each sip is the blueberry. Blueberry green teas are fairly common but the cotton candy flavour, which sort of sneaks in at the end, adds an extra twist to it. I enjoyed this one, maybe not as much as the lime jello but I still found it quite agreeable.

The blueberry flavor is quite prominent, but I get a little less cotton candy flavor from this than I did from the cotton candy black tea on the first day. The gunpowder base was certainly interesting. Kind of unexpected, but very good.

YUUUMMM. Equal parts cotton candy, blueberry, and all around-goodness.

(And for once I didn’t forget I had tea steeping and managed to not over steep it. Go me)

Sipdown! I’m hoping to get a few more of those accomplished today since it’s my day off. I have to make room for a big 52teas order I got in the other day!

This one was astringent due to oversteeping, but the blueberry smoothed it out as best as it could. I still prefer 52teas’s Cotton Candy to this one, but it’s still a good cuppa.

one of the christmas teas. i postponed drinking it for a long time because it really doesn’t seem like my thing. i don’t even really like cotton candy in it’s original form. but it was a cute tea. and fun. though it definitely doesn’t fit my winter mood.

Yum! I love blueberry and cotton candy so I knew I would love this one. I just love how Frank has that cotton candy flavor down. This especially tastes delicious iced just like the cotton candy black tea. Really love this one! :-)
