Yum! Rich butter rum toffee flavor (don’t worry, it’s alcohol-free & vegan!) with a roasty-toasty base of Kukicha & Houjicha! This tea is perfect for autumn – it’s so good!
Tea of the Week for August 19, 2024!
Remember when you were little & your grandmother would come over to visit? She would always carry some sweets in her purse that would always bring a smile to her grandchildren’s faces.
This blend starts with a blend of roasted Houjicha & roasted Kukicha as well as some sarsaparilla root. Then I added some alcohol-free & vegan essence to create a flavor profile that evokes memories of those hard candies that gramma used to carry in her purse – the ones in the shiny amber-colored wrappers.
The roasted notes of the Houjicha & Kukicha accentuate the lovely toffee & butter rum notes. The cup is sweet without being cloying. I love how this one turned out!
PLEASE NOTE: Some of the labels for this product were printed incorrectly, omitting the marshmallow root from the list of ingredients. My apologies for this oversight.
organic ingredients: roasted green teas, sarsaparilla root, marshmallow root & natural flavors
to brew: shake the pouch to make sure the ingredients are well-incorporated, use 3g of tea to 12oz of hot water (175°F) & steep for 2 ½ minutes. Strain & allow to cool or at least 5 minutes.
serving suggestion: I enjoyed this hot (I tend to prefer the roasted flavor of houjicha & kukicha as a hot drink, however I think this would be tasty as an iced tea as well). It’s delicious hot. There’s a natural sweetness to the tea, so if you’re one who sweetens tea before you try it, I recommend tasting this before you sweeten it. A wee bit of sugar will bring out the “candy-like” flavors of toffee & butter rum a bit, but just a teensy bit!
