Tea of the Week for March 18, 2024!

When I received a sample of the latest batch of Singbulli Oolong from my supplier, I knew I had to have it. I absolutely love this tea!

But upon receiving it, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with it. After sampling it a second & even a third time, I finally determined that something pineapple would work well – as would the creamy, sweet flavor of coconut. I decided to put those two together & go with a Pina Colada!

This is fantastic! The sweet, creamy notes of Pina Colada work so beautifully with the smooth yet crisp, slightly floral notes of the Singbulli Oolong. A beautiful tea – I think you guys are gonna love this one!

It’s vegan, organic, gluten-free, alcohol-free & all natural!

organic ingredients: oolong tea, coconut, pineapple & natural flavors

to brew: shake the pouch before measuring. Use 3g of tea to 12oz of very hot water (180°F) steep for 3 ½ minutes. Strain & allow to cool for at least 5 minutes. Enjoy!

serving suggestions: I don’t usually cold-brew my oolong teas BUT this tea is an exception to that – because this tea is exceptionally delicious as a cold-brew! Besides, who wants a hot pina colada? Well, I also enjoy this tea served hot, so I would want a pina colada. So – forget I said that.

This tea needs no sweetener, but if you prefer a sweeter drink, feel free. I find that when I did taste test it with a little bit of sugar, it enhanced the overall flavor profile. However you decide you want to serve this, I think you’re gonna love it!

This is so good! Vibrant notes of pineapple with creamy, sweet coconut & notes of rum (don’t worry, it’s alcohol-free!) meld beautifully with beautifully smooth notes of Singbulli Oolong tea! You won’t want to miss this one!

This tastes strongly of coconut. It’s pretty refreshing cold! I may also get a bit of acidity from the pineapple, in a good way. There’s not too much distinct fruitiness though. It’s best steeped 3 minutes or a little shorter. To me, the recommended time leads to some bitterness. I tried my final cup of this with some milk, which seemed to complement the flavor profile well. It’s not my favorite sort of flavor profile, but it was nice!

This is what prompted my recent 52teas order! I feel like this flavor combo more commonly gets put on a green or black base, maybe rooibos, but rarely on an oolong. I cold brewed it overnight in the fridge. It makes a great iced tea on a hot day. The coconut is both the first and the strongest flavor, which is fine by me because it’s a really nice coconut flavor. More macaroon than sunscreen, though definitely a plain rather than toasted coconut. The pineapple adds a nice little zhuzh that rounds out the flavor, and the base blends seamlessly with those flavors. Totally smooth, no astringency or dryness at all. Loving this.
