“The base tastes a little floral, and I taste some red fruit flavor in the blend too. It’s pretty light, but not bad! It makes a refreshing cold cup of tea, though I wish I could taste the rhubarb...” Read full tasting note
“I am not a huge rhubarb fan. It’s not that I dislike it, I don’t. I just don’t have a lot of experience with it. I had never even had rhubarb until just very recently (as in the last few years)...” Read full tasting note

Description

Tea of the Week for March 4, 2024!

You can tell by the teas that I created for this month that Spring was on my mind because I worked with a lot of fruit flavors this month (and in the case of this tea – a vegetable!) I’m not sure exactly why I was so excited about Spring, because to be honest, I prefer Fall & Winter over Spring. But – yeah, I guess I was excited about the coming of Spring!

This blend starts out with a beautiful organic young hyson green tea combined with lots of freeze-dried strawberries. Instead of tracking down some candied rhubarb like I did for the “Never Touch Another Man’s Rhubarb” black tea from January, I found some rhubarb candy instead – which is made simply with organic rhubarb essence & cane sugar.

This tea turned out even better than I hoped it would. The sweet, slightly nutty, full-bodied flavor of the young hyson with the sweetness of the strawberry and the tartness of the rhubarb play so well together. It’s very refreshing. It’s also organic, vegan, gluten-free & allergen-friendly!

organic ingredients: green tea, strawberries, rhubarb candy (cane sugar & rhubarb essence) & natural flavors

to brew: use 3g of tea to 12oz of hot water (175°F) steep for 2 minutes & strain. Enjoy!

serving suggestion: I really enjoy this tea hot, but it’s even better iced! I cold-brewed it overnight in the fridge & it made a tasty, refreshing drink all day long! This tea doesn’t need sweetening, but I did find that when I added a little bit of sugar (less than ½ a teaspoon per serving) the flavors of strawberry really POP!

Spring is coming – so I’m putting out some refreshing, fruitier teas (yeah, I know rhubarb is actually a veggie!) This tea is fantastic iced!
