Tea of the Week for May 1, 2023!

Yum! This may be my Breakfast Blend for 2023 (but don’t quote me on that) – it’s rich in flavor the way you want a Breakfast Blend to be & it brings the gusto thanks to the Assam base.

I love the way the coconut & vanilla soften the aggressive edge that Assam usually brings – with these two components, the otherwise assertive Assam becomes creamy & flavorful without being too astringent. Very pleasant to drink with malty richness from the Assam tea and the sweet, smooth coconut & vanilla flavor! I love it! It’s also organic, vegan, gluten-free & all natural!

organic ingredients: black tea, coconut, vanilla beans & natural flavors

more about this tea: I love me some coconut (if that’s not obvious by now) – in fact, coconut & banana may be my two favorite tea flavors to work with (which is why you happen to see those two flavors brought into so many of my tea blends). This blend is so rich & decadent tasting – but it also brings on the caffeine that you need when you want (or need!) to wake up! So good!

I don’t really know what else to say. This blend has Assam (I love it!), coconut (love it!) & vanilla bean (also – love it!) I love this tea & everything about it!

to brew: shake the pouch well (the vanilla beans are tiny and they like to find their way toward the bottom of the pouch, so it’s best to turn the sealed pouch upside down when you’re shaking to get some of those little guys to the top of the pouch when you open it up to measure it out!)

Use 3g of tea to 12oz of nearly boiling water (205°F). Steep for 3 minutes. Strain. Allow to cool at least 10 minutes so that you don’t burn your tongue & while protecting your precious taste buds, the tea will develop its flavor which will delight those taste buds!

serving suggestion: this is fantastic served as a hot beverage. I prefer it served hot. Going latte is also suggested but it’s good without the dairy & because of the “cream” (vanilla bean) element – it has a latte thing kind of going for it without dairy – but hey – go ahead & go crazy by adding some dairy because it’s good like that too! It doesn’t need sweetener, but if you tend to prefer a sweeter drink, go for it – I just would recommend tasting before you sweeten because it has a somewhat sweet taste without sweetener.

During one of my taste tests, I happened to step away from my cup & it got cold – so I can say confidently that this is good as a cold tea too!

The coconut is the strongest flavor here, tasting very fresh and almost fruity. The assam isn’t quite as bold as you might expect. Together, these flavors are desserty and tasty with some milk, though I don’t get much of the creme aspect or anything other than the coconut and tea. It’s a bit straightforward, but the flavor is quite good.

This was the tea of the week for the first week of May, and I’ve already almost finished my personal stash of this tea. Yes, it’s that good. I love the way the bold flavor of the Assam works with the smooth sweetness of the coconut & vanilla. It’s a good wake-up kind of tea – it’s got the strength I’m looking for in a wake-me-up tea but it’s also pleasantly sweet and creamy.
