So I was a little weary when I found out David’s was going to revamp their ayurvedic teas. Then I had the Fired Up Fennel and I think I found my new post-lunch tea!

I am a Pitta-Kapha and I find the fennel, anise, chilis, and licorice perks up the body and mind.

I do wish this tea would include tulsi like the previous formulations, but I am very happy with this tea for kaphas!

drank Cheeky Lychee by DAVIDsTEA

I love eating lychees. I love lychee martinis, but wasn’t too much of a fan of this tea. I think it was the overly floral, almost rosy notes which I wasn’t expecting especially when I read the ingredients are lychee scented black tea, apple pieces, and calendula petals. I’d suggest the Earl’s Garden over this.

drank Glitter & Gold by DAVIDsTEA

This is my favourite black tea from David’s! Before pouring milk, I love seeing the gold swirls around in my mug. At first sip, you can feel the zing from the cinnamon with the deep resonance of the cloves and warmth from the vanilla. It’s such a warm, comforting tea perfect for a rainy or snowy morning while reading the paper. If you have an open house or friends over for dessert, brew this tea to make your guests feel warm and invited.

I was curious to try this tea because it apparently alleviates several digestive issues. With ingredients like fennel, ginger, and peppermint, I wouldn’t be surprised. Needless to say, I didn’t feel like it alleviated those symptoms, but it’s definitely delicious. I enjoy having this as an afternoon tea if I am in the mood for something herbal. Cats love it too! (To sniff not to drink!)

The floral, bold aroma from the vanilla combined with the tropical coconut is quite intoxicating and I am sure this would taste awesome with rum. I love to sip this tea in the afternoon for a quick pick-me-up while working. I wouldn’t suggest this as a breakfast tea as with most David’s black teas, they are just not strong enough to get the am going.
Try this tea with a piece of chocolate pound cake.

drank Exotica by DAVIDsTEA
8 tasting notes

At first, I felt like I was drinking thai fried rice because of the predominant ingredient lemongrass. Supposedly, lemongrass is good for stomach ailments or head aches. Didn’t really notice it helped much in those regards, but it tasted pleasant nonetheless.

In fact, if you like thai food or fragrances, this tea can be brewed with rice and spices if you crave a milder version of thai rice.

Exotica is more a tangy tea with hints of nuttiness and would go great combined with a straight green tea.

Would I buy again? Probably not. Would I suggest it? Hmm…not necessarily.

drank Mulberry Magic by DAVIDsTEA

Supposedly mulberry tea is packed with vitamins and minerals and is used to prevent and treat several health conditions including cold symptoms, weight loss, and diabetes. It is my favourite afternoon tea after lunch. I don’t know if I’d loss weight from drinking this, but I do know it feels very comforting. The light hints of vanilla and the macadamia nuttiness make a nice balance to this otherwise very mild tea.

This is the first time I’ve had chicory tea. Hmm…must be an acquired taste. I do like the earthiness and it has a wonderful aroma of vanilla and almond, but it doesn’t mask the taste of the chicory bitterness as DaisyChubb describes. There is this weird after taste. I think this tea would taste good with some sort of liquor.
