I sat down with a mug of this, finished my mug, and immediately went out the door to go to the store and buy more of this. I only picked up 2 oz. on my last visit and I knew that would be insufficient.

This is GOOD. Sweetish, without being cloying. The almond comes through, and the coconut adds a bit of creaminess to the tea. Delicious and delightful. I think this would be awesome iced, too.

I got a sample of this from Bibliohermione. Thanks, Erin!

This is super tasty. The earl grey comes through but is tempered with the blackberry and vanilla. Everything works together perfectly, and is a nice alternative to a regular earl grey.

The Doctor would approve.

This is delicious, though it’s not very fruity. There are definitely pineapple bits and cherries, but I can’t really taste them. A bit of a shame since I love pineapple and was really excited for a strong pineapple-tasting tea. However, it’s still very yummy. It’s pleasantly sweet and light, and a great dessert tea.

I should have realized I wouldn’t have liked this once I saw the whole rosebuds in this tea. The rose flavor came through extremely strong and overwhelmed everything else. This tea tastes like soap to me, way too perfumy.

Maybe the teaspoon scooped up too many rosebuds. I’m looking at the infuser and I see five buds, which is probably four too many for my taste. I’ll try this again with a better rose to tea ratio.

drank Birthday Cake by Butiki Teas

I put this in my basket with my first order with Butiki Tea. I’ve been looking forward to this, mainly because I was really intrigued that there was a supposedly cake-tasting herbal tea.

The tea itself is very pretty to look at. Brewed, the color is a pale amber. The flavor is subtle. It tastes very herby and not cake-like at all until I added a smidge of sugar. That helped bring out some of the flavoring. I’m definitely getting sweet vanilla, but it’s less reminiscent of cake and instead brings to mind the overly sweet frosting found on sheet cakes bought at the grocery store. There is an undertone that could be considered cakey, I suppose, but it’s hidden and still fairly herby.

I do like this tea, but not sure I like it enough to purchase again.

drank Coconut Cream Pie by Butiki Teas

I had a rough morning at physical therapy, so I brewed this up hoping it will loosen some things up in my shoulder and alleviate some of the pain. This is absolutely delicious. The coconut is nice and creamy, natural-tasting and not artificial. The tea is wonderful. Hopefully it will bring down any inflammation in my shoulder.

Tried this again last night, resteeping the sample for 3 minutes instead of 4. Perfection! The cinnamon flavor came right out, and mingled nicely with the almond. So yummy! No sugar or cream needed. It was great on its own.

I’ve had a number of blueberry rooibos or honeybush teas, and this is the first one that I was willing to drink without sugar. The blueberry flavor is definitely there but it’s not sweet, more like a subtle extra that mixes with the rooibos. It’s actually almost savory.

I just added some sugar to see what that did to the taste. I think I actually prefer this tea without sweetening. The sugar makes the blueberry flavor taste artificial.

This is not my favorite rooibos but it’s passable, and good in a pinch.

Stacy gave me a free sample of this when I placed an order. I love almonds and was really excited to try this one. I brewed this according to the instructions on the label, and I think the 4 minutes steeping time was too much. It was a bit bitter, and I added some sugar to mask that.

Other than that, it’s pretty tasty. The sugar really highlighted the almond flavor. I really like this.

I wonder if the sample was too large. I have a tendency to add too much tea in the samples. Sorry about that.

drank Roasted Almond by Capital Teas

I sampled this while I was in the Wildwood store today. I did not like it. I’m sure there was almond in it, but like some other almond herbal blends that uses apple as filler (cough, David’s Tea, cough), all I could taste was apple, and tart apple at that. Well, at least I could try before I bought it.

I’m a tea-aholic. I’ve always loved tea. It is soothing and warm and comforting. I always had it when we went out to eat as a child so my first association is with rich and delicious food.

As an adult, I’m learning to enjoy tea on its own merits, and bask in its subtleties and varieties. The ritual of making a cup of tea is instantly relaxing.

I prefer oolong and white teas, followed by greens. For the most part, I don’t like straight black tea, but appreciate it as part of a blend or flavored. I’ve learned to love the world of flavored teas out there.

I’m slowly learning to appreciate rooibos blends, which I started drinking for its anti-inflammatory properties.

Love: Oolong, almond, coconut, peach
Hate: Ginger
