13 Tasting Notes
I infused this 3 times. Each time the floral flavor came out more and more. The first steep was very sweet and delicious hot. I am now drinking it cold on the third steep and it has a more floral fast and is great cold. I like green teas cold better than hot, there extremely refreshing.
Preparation
The only way to describe this is that it tasted like earth. It was almost like you could taste the Chinese Yunnan caves it was grown in. It was amazing. I did three infusions and it just got more delicious. By the end I had a natural tea high, and it could feel the positive energy. Overall, great, I can’t wait to try some higher end Pu-erhs.
First steep:
Boiling for 5:45
Second Steep:
Boiling for 6:15
Third Steep:
Boiling at 9:00
Thought I would try for a little longer to say how strong it could get. Since, it was the third steep it wasn’t a whole lot stronger than the first I did at 5:45. I let it sit out to long and it was not that good at room temperature. Next time I will do the first steep at 9:00.
Preparation
Amazing tea to wake up to!! I was looking forward to drinking this for the first time. Steeped it once in the morning, and it gave me so much energy from its chocolaty, coffee tasting goodness, that I infused a second time and it was just as good.
Will be drinking this almost every morning.
Preparation
Great chocolate smell with every sip. The chocolate taste is subtle however. It was a nice mixture of flavors. Good, but not great.
The fact that they gave me the tea for free with my purchase made it even better.
Might wanna try this one next time: http://steepster.com/teas/davidstea/16106-chocolate-chili-chai
This smell is absolutely amazing. You smell all of the spices, but the vanilla really shines through. After the first infusion you tasted a strong vanilla, ginger, with some cinnamon.
It was so good that I steeped it a second time and it really brought out the cinnamon. The second steep was straight cinnamon with a hint of ginger, and was just as good as the first time around.
It really is a great, relaxing evening tea!
Preparation
I am using my camera phone, so pictures are coming out weird. Will use a digital camera for future pics.
Not a fan of this tea. It was too sweet and acidity. I am trying the second infusion to see how it tastes and will also try cold. Seems like it might be good after leaving it in the fridge for a while.
Preparation
Tried the second infusion hot and it still wasn’t satisfying. Gave it another chance iced, and that will be the last time I make this tea.
I have never done more than one infusion. I read articles online, but still can’t seem to grasp it. What is the proper way to do more than one infusions?
Do you steep longer or shorter, and what temperature difference?
Hi Ryan,
It depends on the tea. With puerhs and oolongs the second infusion is often shorter but with an herbal tea like this one I’m not sure how much it matters
what’s your experience with Prickly pear as a fruit? Maybe that’s the problem? I’ve only had prickly pear puree ( I’m a pastry Chef) and found it to be sorta vegetable-like, sweet, not too sour with a funky color if that made sense haha like beets and strawberries
That’s very sad, as (black)Darjeelings are supposed to be ’’celebration’’ teas. Not this one I guess.
