Hot tea made in a tea press during the two days that my dad came to visit in Montreal during my staycation – the tea itself tasted really nice, but it was a stressful situation that I was drinking it in…
My Dad insisted on renting a car while he was here in the city, despite my advising him that it was probably smarter to take the metro during the time he was here because it’s faster and easier to navigate. He was stubborn and determined though and went with the car anyway. It was a terrible decision; my dad is already an aggressive and impatient driver and that’s back home in the PRAIRIES where it’s less busy streets and he has familiarity with the city. Here in Montreal!? Well fuck; between the poor street design, heavier traffic, all the construction creating TONS of weird detours, fact all the street signs are in French, and him not ever having been to the city before!? Well it took us AGES to get anywhere and he was getting incredibly worked up and frustrated about not knowing how to navigate the city. We had three activities planned the first day he visited and we only ended up getting to one of them – we spent like four hours stuck in traffic/lost and I got to listen to him for those four hours just screaming his head off, ranting about the bad city design/construction, and just letting out long strings of swear words. It was so frustrating; and I couldn’t help him out because I still barely know my own way around the city and I also don’t drive at all – I take the metro everywhere! Like we should have.
It was, hands down, the worst day I’ve had in the city since moving to Montreal.
But hell, at least I’d had the foresight to make tea to drink during the drive. That was the nicest part of the whole damn experience.
Friendly reminder that I do not numerically rate DAVIDsTEA blends as I’m currently employed there and it would be an obvious conflict of interest. Any blends you see with numerical ratings were rated prior to my employment there. These reviews are a reflection of my personal thoughts and feelings regarding the teas, and not the company’s.

Your dad sounds like my husband when he drives. I tell him he’s like Goofy in this Goofy Motor Mania video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFHT1lw3vSI
There is also the issue of the many, MANY one-way streets and no turning on reds and all sorts of unique to Mtl rules and lack of parking everywhere. A car is a liability in the city where you can get around super easily as a pedestrian. Plus, the metro is one of the better transit systems and you can get day/weekend passes. My sister used to drive up to the city when I lived there and with the exception of one restaurant that had valet parking, we would just leave the car parked at my place and walk/take public transit.

Yup, that’s pretty accurate!
