For $4 you get 80 organic black tea bags. That alone makes this a steal. It is very nice tea though. I tweeted Whole foods about where the teas come from and I believe they told me China, Kenya, and Ceylon (Sri Lanka). I drink it mostly hot with a little milk and sugar. I use it as a breakfast tea. Not a heavy hit of caffeine. Very good value.

I wasn’t comparing this to my $25 for a couple oz Gyokuro. It is a bagged tea, but I feel much better than similar priced lipton or generic dust teas. Since I started with loose brew and then have bagged teas when I am in a hurry, I am picky on my bagged tea. This is one that is nice to have in the afternoon at the office, especially for the price. If price is not an issue and you want bagged tea, go with Numi brand.

I’ve only had their Chocolate Pu Erh, but I agree- it was amazing. I can’t wait to try the loose version. For bagged I prefer to fill my own bags, but that’s just me:)

I initially avoided this tea, thinking it would be like Celestial Seasoning’s “Blow Your Head Off” Peppermint. But I read Jillian’s suggestion to try this tea. I’m so glad I did. It’s now become one of the daily after dinner teas Mom and I drink. It’s sweet, minty, doesn’t rev you up and soothes the digestive tract. Thanks again, Jillian.

I have discovered something. This is my “frumpy” tea. I’ve noticed that when I drink this tea, it’s usually on a blah day. And yes, I’m wearing another hoodie. (Green Bay Packers if you want to know.) Drinking this tea hot = frumpy. Drinking this tea iced in the Summer = good times and fun outside. Pretty drastic difference, yet still enjoyable either way. I didn’t have any dried blueberries in this cup, so I’m not tempted with eating them this time.

Do you guys have a mood tea? I have days where the tea kind of decides my mood…and other days where my mood decides the tea. Yes, very prophetic, I know.

Not for specific moods persay but I do find when I look through my tea cupboard that I don’t feel ‘in the mood’ for certain teas.

I do have some teas that are comfort teas that probably equate to your frumpy tea. They are the teas I drink when I’d rather be in sweatpants and a fuzzy sweater, curled up under an afghan on the couch. I drink them to make myself feel happier when I don’t feel so great. It’s like drinking warm fuzzies.

Definitely one of my favorite teas- I come back to it over and over. The flavor is kind of sweet and toasty. It reminds me a little bit of the flavor of honey. My husband thinks it tastes like brussell sprouts, which I think is kind of strange. It’s an easy one to brew- temp and steep time will not adversely affect the brew. Good for me, the tea killer.

While this is currently not available on their web site, this SpecialTeas tea is a favorite assam I have found that is excellent value. I look for malty assams that are bold but not astringent. I steep for 2 min to avoid bitterness. I drink it without milk or cream usually.

drank Dancong Aria by Adagio Teas

WOW…what a flavor. I read the description on Adagio and had to give it a try, and I’m glad I did. I just got this in the mail today. I opened the container and instantly smelled tropics. It’s a light amber brew, naturally sweet, slightly astringent in a pleasant way, light on the mouth feel, but with a great unique flavor and a hint of malt. I find that the flavors are more pronounced once it cools down a bit. The flavors in the description are quite accurate: “The one we have chosen intrigued us with its hypnotic orchid notes and lingering honey sweetness.” I’m already partial to oolongs, but the unique flavor in this one made me do a “double take,” if you will. This is only my first cup, and it came out pretty much perfect, but I imagine that too long of a steep time with water that’s any hotter than 200F will result in it being overly bitter.

UPDATE: A purposefully overbrewed cup the following day wasn’t any more bitter.

drank White Fruit Salad by Custom

Backlogged. I had this this morning. It’s what you get when you don’t really have enough of the white tea with kiwi and strawberry and you got inspired by a fellow Steeper the other day just add something else to it. So this is half white tea with kiwi and strawberry and half white tea with pomegranate.

The former was once quite nice but has faded a little. The latter have never been more than a bit better than mediocre and has never actually really tasted like pomegranate all that much. Obviously, what could I call this other than ‘fruit salad’?

It was nice enough, but heavily dominated by the strawberry/kiwi half. It’s not something that I’m heartbroken over not being able to make more of, but it was quite nice for the travel mug on the train.

Candy Cane Lane is an absolute favorite! I love that it’s green tea based, and it’s minty with a hint of vanilla. I think it’s the vanilla that makes it so soothing. The icy coolness of the mint and the warmness of the vanilla combine to make this a spectacular tea, all year round! I love it so much, that I stock up at the holidays so that I can enjoy this every month.

Putting off work and back logging tea.
I had this last night and was only half way paying attention. From my recollection, it is very very vegetal. In fact, I felt like I got my daily serving. But, as a veggie person I wasn’t terribly bother by it.
As for being a sencha, my plate isn’t well rounded enough to say it was good or bad, but from my one prior experience with sencha (at Texlux now that I think of it) this is what I think of when I imagine sencha.
Again, I might have over steeped it and will aim for about only a minute next time round.

The Japanese greens tend to be a lot more grassy than the Chinese, but “very, very vegetal” sounds like you’ve over-steeped it – Japanese greens are pretty sensitive to that sort of thing.

This blend is so good… it smells like a flower bed after the rain. It’s fresh, flowery and with a tiny bit of tartness from hibiscus. Very smooth tea, none of the ingredients is overpowering, they all work together flawlessly.
Absolutely delicious and totally refreshing either hot or cold.

I was desperate and lonely. I was weak. It was bad.
I tried it as first with out any milk, and decided it needed it. Didn’t help. The smell of is milky and spicy/sweet and absolutely yum. The taste was the exact opposite. Its weak with a hint of spice and then bitter. A boon is that the spice is in fact well rounded and not just cinnamon, but I had to search for it.
Overall, unpleasant, but I could deal.

This is a delicious tea that manages to give off a truly tropical, summery vibe—impressive for a hot beverage! The sweet fruit flavors do mask the acerbic taste that is standard for non-blended white or green teas, reducing it to a tingling afterthought; whether this is good or bad depends largely on your personal preference and state of mind. But all in all, I think Lipton has done well with this blend, which is a definite mood-lifter.

This tea is definitely best if brewed less than I did today, but still amazingly good. It definitely gets pretty bitter if brewed too long, though, but still one of my favorites.

I’m typing this up as I wait for the first trick-or-treaters to ring the doorbell and I figured I’d make myself something autumn-y to get in the spirit.

I love the strong, ‘real’ apple flavouring of this tea but the black tea base is just so flat that it takes away from the whole thing. Oh well.

OMG! I just found out this tea is one that Teavana has discontinued! Figures! The last 4 teas I bought from them they have discontinued ALL Of them…I LOVE 3 out of the 4 teas I bought too! I was going to re-order – guess that won’t be happening. I do have a bit more of this left but am craving it…so I will be drinking more of it very soon!

Someone listed it on my blog…that is was. When I bought my last 4 from Teavana in Buffalo, NY, they said 3 out of my 4 would be discontinued and I couldn’t remember which ones they were so it would shock me if this was one of those 3…sigh…
