168 Tasting Notes
First steep it is strong on the cinnamon…but the second steep there is a definite baklava taste coming through and it is good. The third steep is not too bad, but the second steep is the best. I like this tea.
1st steep: 4 minutes
2nd steep: 6 minutes
3rd steep: 8 minutes
Flavors: Cinnamon, Nutty
Preparation
I love yellow tea and so I had to buy this one as soon as it was available…great price for yellow tea. The tea was refreshing and it was fresh…a newly opened bag, such a treat. I absolutely love pure tea and this tea was rewarding. Yes, I have had better yellow tea, but for 17.50 for 50 grams this is a great tea. It has a vegetal sweet cauliflower taste with hints of honey and fruit…a very pleasurable mixture of sweet and vegetal.
Flavors: Fruity, Honey, Vegetal
Preparation
I agree with you on the price – Teavana is almost twice the price for their yellow tea. Have you tried it? How does it compare to this one?
This is one of my favourite oolong teas. I first tried it at high tea at the “Chateau Frontenac” in Quebec city and fell in love with it. It is creamy and buttery with a hint of coconut and a slightly sweet taste. I brew it Gong Fu style and each steep is delightful.
1. Rinse
2. 25 seconds
3. 25 seconds
4. 25 seconds
5. then double the time for each additional steep
95 degrees celsius
Flavors: Butter, Coconut, Creamy, Vanilla
Preparation
This is a black wulong tea and it is smoky, creamy with a taste of dark chocolate and a creamy taste which is more like a caramel cream taste which appears as it is steeped multiple times in the Gong Fu Cha style.
Gong Fu Cha:
95 degree C water in Gong Fu
Rinse
15 seconds
10 seconds
10 seconds
Then double each steep
Flavors: Caramel, Cream, Dark Chocolate, Smoke
Preparation
Brewed in a Gong Fu for a total of 8 steeps. The tea is floral, buttery with a taste of pine nuts. It is slightly grassy and it is refreshing. I found the butter and cream taste came out more at the end then at the beginning.
This is how I brewed it:
90 degree Celsius water
Gong Fu
Rinse
first THREE steeps 25 seconds
and each steep after the first three is doubled in time
Flavors: Butter, Cream, Grass, Nuts
Preparation
I like this tea. I love lychee and this tea is a pleasant black tea with lychee fruit. I was able to steep it twice and the taste of lychee is definitely present, but not overwhelming. I generally prefer straight unflavoured teas, but this is a nice subtle tea.
Flavors: Lychee
Preparation
I prepared this tea Gaiwan style and it was sweet with smoky notes. It is claimed to be cultivated without pesticides which is a good thing. It gets sweeter with multiple steeps and the smoky notes hand on throughout. A great green tea from Vietnam!
Flavors: Herbaceous, Smoke, Sweet, Vegetal
Preparation
A mixture of cocoa and peanut flavours make this a sweet tasting woody tea. I am drinking my third steep and the flavour is still pleasant. If you like straight black tea then give this a try.
Flavors: Cocoa, Peanut, Wood
