132 Tasting Notes
ahhh this tea smells absolutely magical!
fruity black teas are 100% my favourite, so i have high hopes for this one, although i’m a little afraid of the hibiscus, being number one on the ingredient list. i’ve read a lot of reviews that say adding a little agave evens it out, so i am steeping 30s less than the recommended time with an agave stick ready and waiting!
oooh i forgot this has green tea too! they were hidden, but steeped those leafy greens float to the top! and i honestly don’t see any black tea leafs at all. hmm…
blech. yep. waaayyy too tart. adding agave…
alright… better, but still too tart for my taste. i’ll let it cool and add some ice and see how that goes. i’d also like to try it with my favourite fruity black; The Earl’s Garden, just a 1/4 tsp. or so to jazz it up a bit.
we’ll see!
no rating because there’s still a lot of playing around to do!
Preparation
mmm, lucky me! my David’s order came yesterday, just in time for a big snow storm today!
ordered this one because it’s soon going to be an online exclusive, so i wont be able to just get a little bit to sample when i get around to going on my DAVIDsTEA pilgrimage! (the closest one is 2 hours away ;) )
so! the tea! (one can never have too many chocolate teas) i was interested to see how a ‘chocolate chai’ would work! it definitely does smell very chocolatey and a bit spicy.
not very much heat coming through with the chilies and peppercorns though, this tastes an awful lot like Love Tea #7, but better, just that slight tingle afterward. maybe i’ll steep it a bit longer next time to see if that brings out the spice more
it is very good though! nice, fun tea to warm up with. i know i am very appreciative on this blustery day!
Preparation
nice! pretty light flavour, i made a big pot so i probably could’ve put in an extra scoop.
lots of pretty jelly beans in my 25g bag that came in the spring collection box, but i’m sure this tea would be just fine if it didn’t have the actual jellybeans, it’s just a nice, fun novelty addition and i think it works.
nice rooibos flavour base and the pineapple really comes through
Preparation
got this out shopping with my mom, it was on sale and she said “Ooooh, BANANA tea!?” so we had to get it.
smells really banana-y, just like a bag of banana chips – that really concentrated sweet banana scent. this would probably be really nice iced in the summer.
after steeping the banana smell has mellowed out with the green tea and ginger and really, it does smell quite unappetizing. somewhat like that weird banana flavoured medicine you sometimes had to take as a kid, but like that has gone bad.
interesting. it tastes pretty good. nice green tea flavour with a background hint of that real banana taste. i don’t get much ginger from it, but maybe once it cools down a bit.
very different!
Preparation
i love this tea. i love silk road. they’re the ones that really got me into loose leaf. the atmosphere and the ‘self-serve’ type tea wall, just a great idea!
anyway, on to the tea… really lovely warming spicy blend. the cinnamon and clove are so nice with the black tea, and the slight citrus taste reminds me of mulled cider in the winter, though this tea would be equally excellent on a warm summer evening.
definitely one of my favourites – and i’m running low! must make another special tea trip to victoria, bc! :)
Preparation
i forgot this was a pu’erh! black tea just came to mind when there was mention of rose and chocolate, but i really like it.
the chocolate scent comes through strong, but not so much in the taste. i really get a nice floral from the rose that pairs well with the earthy pu’erh. very nice tea!
