440 Tasting Notes
I must have brewed this one wrong this morning. I got a mellow roasted mate but no chocolate or malty flavour. Which is sad. I’m going to have to play with tihs one and see what happens. Maybe a latte will bring me my malted bliss?
Preparation
Another great one that I got from Indigobloom. After my first sip I said out loud “oh wow I like this one.” Halfway through the cup now and I still feel the same way. The fruit notes blend to the point that I can’t distinguish but you know what? I don’t care. I’m being lazy on trying and proud of it because this is a delicious tea and I just want to enjoy it. And yes, Indigobloom, I’m going to try a second steep!
Preparation
Had this one during the Toronto Tea Party today, iced. It was a nice unassuming tea with a raspberry and hibiscus flavour. I didn’t realize it at the time but apparently my teas of the day had a theme!
If you don’t like hibiscus, avoid this one. It doesn’t dominate but it does consistently fight for control in each sip.
Preparation
Got this one from Aisling today when she let me choose something from her tea wallet. It was not very vanilla, but there were definite raspberry notes. I’d score this one higher if it wasn’t for the hibiscus that came out dominating on the second steep.
Preparation
I have a love hate relationship with this tea. Love because it does taste like what it is called. There are definitive blood orange notes in with a smooth rooibos tea flavour. But I wanted more. I wanted more smoothie and less rooibos. The rooibos is definitely strong here and if you aren’t a fan of it, you aren’t going to like this tea at all. I’m curious what it would taste like if I mixed it with some of my other orange flavoured teas. I may have to try next time since I can’t add milk or cream to this one.
Preparation
It is all the fault of you guys that I bought this one yesterday. I was at Whole Foods just browsing and this was there and calling to me. So of course I pull out my phone and read the reviews, and here are all of you singing the praises. Needless to say, the tea came home with me.
Sipping it this morning I can’t help but feel I’ve had this one before. It tastes identical to the Lemon Cream Rooibos from The Tea Haus, which isn’t a bad thing. I loved that tea, but found that it wasn’t one I reached for on a regular basis. I suspect that this one is going to be the same. The lemon here is delicious, and I enjoy the creaminess that comes with it. I’m not getting meringue so much as cream, but it is still yummy.
So yes, a lovely delicious tea but one that for me is unmemorable.
Preparation
I think I’m a lot closer to Tealish itself than any Whole Foods anyway, but I like to see them in other stores!
Made this one up today and stuck it in the fridge to drink iced. It is one of my favourite teas to drink cold, because it really is deliciously perfect. The lemon balances with a strong Ceylon black to create a cup of what I like to think of traditional iced tea. I added some agave this time and it really made the tea pop. Like most Tea Haus blacks there isn’t a dominating lemon flavour here, just one that plays so well in the black tea sandbox to make magic.
(Brewing details are for how it was brewed before cooling.)
maybe it needs to be at a lower or higher temp? *shrugs
Yeah, I’m going to have to play. At least it was a nice roasted mate, though!
