828 Tasting Notes
I am working my way through my older teas, trying to clean out the stash to make room for new ones. This is a standard oolong. I was hopeful for something more with “fancy” in the title, but it’s just a solid cuppa. It stands up well to multiple steepings, but doesn’t change in significant ways (the way that many of the best oolongs do).
Just as VariaTEA said “This tea isn’t offensive in any way but it also isn’t anything special. I don’t get any pomegranate flavor, just slightly sweet vegetal oolong.” If you’re expecting something special, it’s a letdown. If you’re expecting an oolong, it’s not too bad.
I ended up with a tin of this + the 12 bags in the holiday sampler, so I had a lot of it to drink this season. At first, I put up with it, then I had a phase where I preferred it (steeped strongly: 2 bags per mug, or a small mug for one bag), then I’ve had other tea in the meanwhile, and now have ended up not caring for it so much again. So: if you plan to drink it in a month, I recommend it, but I don’t think it holds up on its own.
