218 Tasting Notes
Unsure about this one. I like actual chocolate oranges, but this tea leaves me… unsure. I think perhaps it’s the fact it’s a pu’erh. I’m not a coffee fan at all, so I think it’s the earthy tones in the pu’erh base that’s putting me off. Will give it another try on a cooler day ( if we get one in the near future, not looking likely though!).
This was my favourite new tea from DT’s 24 Days of Tea. A sufficient hit of chocolate for this chocoholic, and the raspberry tones sweetened it perfectly so extra easn’t required. Anything that means I get to have chocolate with breakfast is a keeper for me! A nice punch of energy, in a chocolatey coating – what more could I ask for! My small tasting tin was devoured in 3 days, each cup got 2 steeps (in one of those handy DT Perfect mugs).
Brewed in accordance with the instructions.
Tastes just like rum without the burning sensation in the back of your throat! Very creamy and flavourful, a nice warming treat. My father in law enjoyed it greatly too (I think his rating would be 100!), might have to order him some for winter.
The temp/steep time functions are not massively user friendly on the iPad, so I’ll update my ratings later. I used boiling water, and around a 5min brew.
Preparation
Wow. This one certainly is minty. Don’t think I’ve ever had anything with quite as strong a mint taste. Even the herb itself. Got it in the 24 days of tea advent calendar, but haven’t been game to go back. Might try it next time with half the amount of tea, or in a cocktail.
Steeped according to DT instructions. Will try again at some point an re-review.
I really like this tea. I got a sample when it was Tea of the Month, and loved it so much I had to order more. It’s sweet, without being overpowering. Comforting both hot and iced, this one has a permanent place on my shelf. Has been very good iced this week while it’s been so hot.
Preparation
Just tea-lightful. It smells just like Canada, which is good considering I’m so far away. Just adore this one. Totally agree that the smell is much stronger than the taste, which is good. For an over-the-top treat, add half a teaspoon of québécois maple syrup to your freshly brewed tea and be transported to maple heaven!
Preparation
My first ever DavidsTea, my first love. I love this hot or iced, straight or with a little honey/agave. I agree that the scent comes out much more strongly once in water, opposed to straight. The blueberry and pomegranate go perfectly with the white tea. I think this one will always have a place on my tea shelf.
Preparation
My favourite of the Christmas teas. I love the mix of the tartness of the cranberries, and the sweetness of the apple and orange. I used it as pick-me-up in the afternoons leading up to Christmas, and since then has been taken iced due to the heat we’ve been getting in SE Australia. Its fantastic iced – for those in colder climates, save some for summer, its very enjoyable. I think it goes great with the sencha, its subtle enough that it doesn’t overpower the other flavours, but strong enough to add something into the mix. A lovely tea.
