So…. I’m in love with yunnan style tea. Something about the peppery sweetness and the rich liquor is amazing. This was definitely a passion buy and the logic was fairly sound..(ah…why not?). So i picked it up and was waiting for it the day ups said it would be there… they waited till almost 6 to deliver it and i was so pumped. The dry leaves smelled like honey and cocoa

So… Ever had that moment where you buy a tea at random thinking “ahh, how bad could it possibly be” only to get it to your house, open and smell it and kinda flinch….

i’m sure most of you haven’t but to be fair i’m sure a good few of you had. And its exactly what happened when i opened this bag for the first time today…. scared the hell out of me too. I am used to either the flavored teas from teavana or the Yunnan Earthy, peppery, teaesque aroma. this was something different all together and it put me off for a couple of minutes. giving it the benefit of the doubt, i brewed it and took a couple sips…

Then everything was right in the world.

I feel like this is one of my favorites and it very different but that ok with me because i need change on occasion.

I feel like the description covers this tea very well because, i get the grape and the spice. I get the sugar and tang. I really like this one. this is the first Darjeeling that i have ever had and i am not disappointed in the slightest.

So good news… GOT MY ADAGIO SHIPMENT IN TODAY!!!!!! I was so pumped i bout dove into the box. This is one of the five i picked, basically, at random from the black tea list and was entirely to happy to have picked a Yunnan… funny thing though, i ended up picking 3 Yunnan and was ok with it.

I brewed at 3 minutes and 15 seconds at 195F. i added a small bit of honey and its really all it needed. First sip without sweetener, i picked up on a bold dark cocoa and maybe a little pepper, as well the aroma of the tea was strangely fruity and very sweet.

After the first couple small sips, i added honey and a smig of milk. This tea works very well with others, becoming very creamy and charming, building with the honey for a wonderful medley of flavors. As the tea cooled a bit, the tea flavor subsided a little and a natural fruitiness broke through. A perfect end to a damn near perfect tea.

I am a Yunnan fan and it just hit the spot for me. Thank you all for your suggestions and i’ll will talk to you all in the morning.

I’m not a huge green tea fan… i’m just not. It is a sad fact and i wish i was a green fan, but i have problems with it. It just seems so bland and tacky. It may just be me but i feel like this tea has almost not flavor. i get a little mint but nothing that really excites me… i ordered a sample of the adagio Casablanca Twist so i hope is does better than this…

I know what you mean! Have you tried 3tsp per 8oz? I read online that the baristas at Teavana use three times the amount in the store. I really wish there was more of a mint flavor. But it just tastes blah to me too.

So… 2:11 A.M. in sleepy little germantown, and what am i drinking… WHAT ELSE Nine Dragon. It just works for me, i don’t know.

It is a wonderfully earthy tea. I wish that i could break my NDGN stash at all hours of the day. Every hour that is, and enjoy a nice warm cup with a little powdered sugar (mostly because i have run out of agave nectar, RAW sugar, and honey…Payday is this Thursday though) and it makes my soul warm. However, this frantic love afare will , more sooner then i had ever dreamed, be over. The bad part about all this…one of has to go, and i’m afraid its you. My Bag of NDGN is almost depleted and will never be available again… R.I.P Nine Dragon Golden Needle… you served me well.
