mmm this is a rather tasty tea. There is a fruity taste hidden in the tea that is quite delicious. While it wont be a favourite of mine it is something that i’d be willing to order again.

I can’t believe I forgot to write about this one. It was so good, and now it’s all gone…

Well, I do remember this: it was pretty, had a fantastic mouthfeel, and strength/flavor lived up to the complex and warm, slightly sweet fragrance. I may buy some of this later, when my Lupicia stash starts to diminish.

Sipdown!

Final verdict on this tea? no thanks. I can’t get over the strangely weird taste that it has even though the dry aroma is quite lovely. I’m thinking maybe it’s the juniper? Not sure, in any case, fine with seeing this one go.

I tried this as a cold brew because of the smell. It smells like it would be a divine cold brew! Instead what i got was a fantastic smelling amazing citrusy that tastes a little like your average every day tea….cold. ah well it’s not bad, but man it smells amazing in comparison to the actual brew.

Preparation
Iced 8 min or more

I’m not sure how i feel about this tea. Man does it smell when you open the package. It’s also got a bit of a weird taste to it that i can’t place. it’s completely a factor of the tea, but again i’m just not sure how i feel about it. I feel like maybe it’s a better cold brew tea with a bit of sweetner to smooth things out. Least i’ve got more to try out.

sipdown! same as the other upton tea….really something i enjoy more for winter, so take that for what it’s worth. :)

Sip down! Man I really need a weekend so that I can get organized and get some of this tea out the door lol. I’m trying to get at least one sip down in a day, which is harder than it sounds since most of me tea has a few cups worth. However, there are a few that I can do a reasonably decent job of in a day or two. I’m also starting to organize my cupboard and pull out things that I’m willing to swap or want to swap.

So this tea? I’m actually a fan of it. It’s creamy and tangy and peachy and delicious. It’s not overly hibiscusy, and as a result there’s a really creamy peach vibe going on. I would for sure order this again, though preferably in summer so I can make it iced!

Ellyn

I admire your dedication to sipdowns!

Sil

Haha I try. At this point it’s more necessity than anything. I’m hoping my other half will be working one of these days on the weekend so that I can just sit and go through my verdant reserve club teas. I’ve been holding off on those because I haven’t had a chance to just sit and relax and enjoy them. Plus I still want my cupboard down to 150 by November…when I decided that I was under 200….I’m now approaching 300 sigh

Terri HarpLady

This sounds delicious! I’ve been eying upton recently, might have to add this one to my list.
I reorganized my Verdant TOMC & TOMCR into 2 boxes the other day, dividing each into monthly selections. Usually when they arrive, I sample them, & then the hoarding begins. So my goal is to drink from each of those boxes at least once a week. Once I’ve drank something it moves to the back of the box, unless it’s a sipdown, of course!
I try to do some similar kind of rotation with my other teas, otherwise I rapidly drink up my favorites & then wish I hadn’t!

Sitting on a call for 5.5hour (and counting) is ZERO fun when you have actual other work to do and can’t leave to go make tea. As a result this one is a little lukewarm because i’ve been holding off drinking it because once it’s gone..i’ve got NADDA at my desk until we fix this issue.

I can get behind this tea, even if the hibiscus makes this more of a sour peach kind of tea. I still enjoy this quite a bit, though i suspect that this would be amazing in summer with a bit of sweetner.

Indigobloom

that sounds painful. Not to mention… what about pee breaks??? lol

So i have to say that I’m really glad that this darjeeling is a decent cup of tea. I was a little worried that I was not going to love them, since the first few that i’ve tried, I haven’t liked. This one though, is a pretty tasty cup! It’s not my favourite black tea but this is still an enjoyable cup. I’d love a bit more robustness from this but the tea is smooth and tasty.

the effort to reduce my cupboard continues! Another sipdown! While i enjoyed this one, i don’t think i’ll be picking it up again. There’s a slightly strange after taste to this one that i am just not liking anymore. I would be tempted to try the other version from upton though, so maybe there’s that :)

oh my god this smells divine. The worst part though? It smells like something i’ve had before that was sooo delicious, but i can’t remember what it was. haha. I’d be curious to try the black base version of this to see how it compares. However, that being said the green base is really tasty. It’s not quite REAL mango..but it is mango and it is tasty. I have a feeling that with a teeny bit of sweetner this would really pop! Either that or maybe cold brewed. I’ll have to try both at some point :) for now i’m just enjoying this interesting cup of tea while trying to place where the heck the smell is from.

When i picked this one, I actually thought it would be a smokey tea for whatever reason. This tea has no smokiness to it. There’s actually almost a fruity taste happening here which confuses me often in straight blacks :) it’s not malty…to me this is a sweet black with some sort of taste to it that makes my mouth feel full. so maybe i’m having a weird morning haha

Kittenna

I also thought Russian Caravan was typically a smoky tea…

Sil

yeah…this one really isn’t. at all. lol

Indigobloom

Same here, I assumed that Lapsang is always a component in RC!! Odd

Pretty sure I ruined this cup by over steeping it. It was barely drinkable and since I’ve had it before with no issue, I’m sure I just did something foolish. Fnished up with testing thing for work so I might get out a little this afternoon…won’t be much but better than nothing!

having another cup (or more with the re-steeps depending on how you look at it) because after the previous tea i needed a non fruity black tea. The more i have this one, the more it’s growing on me. Or maybe that it’s a lot more of what i wanted in contrast to the previous tea. :)

Backlog from yesterday

I quite enjoyed this cup as the yunnan helped cut the astringency of the asaam. There’s a bit of smokiness to this tea but it’s not the dominant flavour. Instead it’s more at the tail end of the malty spice like black.

awe yeah..guess who managed a sipdown while on a business trip in another country? THIS GUY! I am completely fried. I don’t even want to talk about my last day here. so bloody unproductive. Basically. Sit around the office doing nothing until we finally decide well into the early evening that we’re not going to have the meeting after all. right. cool. thanks for that.

So i’m in my room now, finally getting a chance to pack. and i’m drinking up some of my tea because i really just want to pass out on my bed but i purposely put all my clothes and things on the bed so that i’d have to pack before i can faceplant. lol.

Anyway sipdown on this tea! it’s something i’d order again, though it seems to be a bit fussy in terms of timing, amount of leaf etc. Dropping the rating as a result only because i like my blacks to be more bulletproof,

Mercuryhime

Hope you enjoy your last evening abroad!

TeaLady441

Hope you manage to do all the shopping you’d hoped for. Or at least some of it.

TassieTeaGirl

Love the packing strategy! Good luck making it all fit.

Sil

i managed to get it all into my suitcases..and then promptly went and bought a few more things at the nearby grocery store lol

mmmm brought this with me to china and had it yesterday as well as today. I am really enjoying this one here for whatever reason – not that i didn’t already enjoy it back home but today the flavours are really nicely balanced. Maybe tea is trying to destress me from the big meeting with the bosses today.

Also…because of the wind storms, today is a fabulous beautiful sunny day. I can see the mountains again. The wind is still blowing so it’s super cold but it’s at least not as polluted or grey outside. Here’s hoping i get SOME time outside..maybe? please? i hope?

Indigobloom

fingers crossed for you!

Dinosara

Loved it when the storms would blow off the smog for the day!

Sil

yeah i can see the mountains again today! :)

mmmmm finally caught up on my tasting notes lol having this before we need to get ready to head out for board game saturday! Hopefully to be followed by sipdown sunday heh. I quite like this one though there’s a hint of something in it that takes away from the delicious tea base. I’m guessing it’s the muscatel? I’m not picking up any astringency in this one so that’s nice. Overall not a bad cup!
