I’ve had this box since the fall when I bought it impulsively and then neglected it for months. I finally brought it out to cold brew in my brand new pitcher! I put 3 bags in and left it in the fridge for four hours. The resulting tea has a very candy-like mango taste. It also tastes slightly medicinal to me, which is odd and not very pleasant. I may experiment with mixing this one with plain black tea to see if I can maintain the mango without getting the medicinal taste, but I will not repurchase when I’m done with the box. I’ve just found so many higher quality teas since I bought this box!
Edit: I now see that hibiscus is listed as one of the ingredients. Maybe I’m just interpreting that tartness and medicinal?
this is actually delicious.
after my 2 cups of matcha today & my veggie marathon (i love vegetables!) replete with supplements of Spirulina, turmeric & Neem, i was quite full and couldn’t really fit more tea. lol.
for dinner i made a spinach salad with basil-infused olive oil from Colavita (my new favorite thing in life) to which i added a generous sprinkling of salt, lots of cracked black pepper and topped it off with toasted almonds & coconut flakes. i know that might sound bizarre but it is actually amazing. toasted almonds are everything. also, while in the toaster- there is such a small window of time during which they toast & get perfectly dark around the edges just before burning! i have mastered this art.
sometimes i’ll add Jyoti’s Jaipur Karhi to the salad in place of dressing & it’ll be this perfectly yummy, tangy, spicy & coconutty experience with mustard seeds (!!!) and the toasted almonds are just the crowning glory. i really need to stop talking about toasted almonds.
anyway, after my salad i had a cup of Eden’s organic Hojicha, which i love dearly. it tastes like dark roasted popcorn omg. maybe slightly burnt popcorn. in a sort of wheatish reed kind of way. then a while after that i was feeling sleepy so i made me a cup of this!
this is the exact same thing as Candy Cane Lane by Celestial Seasonings, which i also have. when i first got it during the holiday season, i remember thinking it was nice, but just an ordinary mint tea. now i think it’s really amazing and great before bed. i also realize that there is vanilla in this along with the peppermint and i think i can perceive some cinnamon as well, thinking back on Nutcracker Sweet. when i add honey to this, it comes pretty close to tasting like a candy cane! which is odd that i should be excited, considering i don’t really eat candy canes around Christmas. but okay, it works for this tea!
tummy-soothing, comforting & inviting to sleep. i guess that’s why mint is a key ingredient in all CS’s sleepytime blends!!
thanks @teabrat & @teafairy! :)
if u want to try n replicate the salad, toast the almonds in a toaster, let them brown n even burn a little…but be quick about it because slightly burnt can become completely burnt in a matter of seconds! ;p
@teabrat- i take neem for all the purported health benefits. i read in a lot of places neem is a miracle tree, can prevent cancer, improve your skin, cleanse your blood, etc. i take neem leaf in capsule form. i heard it can also help your immune system & has similar effects to that of Echinacea and Goldenseal.
This is a great cinnamon tea. With honey or agave it really brings out the cinnamon and spice notes in the tea.. The best cinnamon tea I have found so far. Unfortunately the last time I went to Trader Joe’s they were out and told me it was a seasonal tea? Odd since I had been purchasing it for almost a year? I really hope that more people express interest in this tea so that they can have it year round. If you do find it, I would recommend stocking up as you will really enjoy it.
Preparation
Super duper delicious tea that tastes like candy cane! Not mint, no, the flavor is much more complex than that. There is some vanilla and other flavors that make it distinctly candy cane and I am addicted when I want to reach for a teabag!
Preparation
This is my favorite tea. It is designed for cream and sugar. I like Yorkshire Gold Loose Tea too, but this is the one I drink at least 6 times a day. Actually tea is the only thing I drink. I add Splenda and Half and Half. Best thing about it is that it tastes like tea and is inexpensive. Most of the time I empty the bag into a pod and run it through my machine because I am in a hurry. I get 14 oz. out of 1 bag.
Christmas present from the sister-in-law.
This tea smells EXACTLY like that tub of Betty Crocker vanilla icing. That sickly sweet smelling icing. You know the stuff your boyfriends and husbands would probably sit and eat in a whole sitting straight from the tub… or is that just mine?
This tea does well with added sugar and cream/milk. On it’s own it’s pretty lost. The smell is what I can’t get over. For TJ pricing, I would probably buy this again. I’ve walked by people with this tea in my hand and have had them come up to me and ask me what it is… so I guess it truly smells good.
Preparation
I bought this and it was gone in a matter of days- It’s so good. When I saw this in the store I made absolutely no hesitation to snatch it up. When I got home I literally ran to my tea kettle, and I was not disappointed. The flavor is so bold and rich, the rooibos makes that much of a difference. This tea is perfectly spicy, everything works together!
And it smells amaaaazing. I felt like some kind of drug addict sniffing a can of tea so intensely.
Preparation
Blah. Sadly, I had to return this to Trader Joe’s. Far too sweet to be used for anything. I made some iced tea with it using a quarter of the mix called for and it still wasn’t worth drinking.
Preparation
There is rumor that we may get a Traders Joes in a city not too far from me… we have nothing like it. One health food store that is ok. I’m excited about the possibility of some good new finds.. I hope if they come I have better luck than you did with this one. At least it is easy to return when the store is local :)
butterific cinnamon-swirl vanilla black tea that forever changed my life. it’s really so simple. sweet popcorn caramel with a tantalizing aroma that comforts in every way. i declare this my definitive winter/holiday/christmas tea, but you better believe i’ll be drinking this 365 days a year! seasons don’t exist in my world where there is amazing flavor or fragrance. stocked up like a neurotic squirrel in an acorn pile.
