I found this to be a pleasant-tasting tea. It was delicate and smooth, and I really liked the taste but I’m not really sure if the bloom opened properly. The silver needles opened up but the flower inside stayed tightly furled. I will have to try it again to see if I get a different result.
The second steep tasted lovely, but it didn’t have any effect on the peony.
Mmmmmm
It’s kinda really strong but its really good after a few sips to get used to it. It’s fragrent peachy smell makes it all worth the boiling and waiting for it to bloom. The petals are beautiful, and makes me want to eat the flower (which I must regretably say I did). Overall yummy for just before bed time
Preparation
The scent when you open the tea tin is absolutely divine and unlike a few other flavoured teas I’ve tried, tastes as good as it smells. Definitely more a herbal cinnamon blend, rather than a sweet and sticky bakery cinnamon but it doesn’t turn medicinal at any point.
My only criticism is that it felt a little thin, even with milk but that didn’t detract from the experience; perhaps it’s because the cinnamon reminded me of my morning porridge! I preferred the tea once it had cooled down but I think that’s just because I could get more of it in my mouth.
(NB: I’m not used to the taste of black tea, so my rating is tempered by that – I’ll likely revisit this tea once my tastebuds are more acclimatised!)
A strong caramel scent without any of the artificial sweetness you get with some flavoured teas (even after I picked out a lot of the caramel chunks and ate them!) The scent mellows and softens to a creamy almond when brewed. Lovely golden-green colour to the tea too.
Tasted straight up, the tea is light and refreshing with a smooth caramel aftertaste. My second cup that had steeped slightly longer (I only have a teeny teacup) was stronger but without bitterness. When I try it again I’ll probably add a smidge of honey to see if it brings out the caramel a bit more but overall, my first “proper” cup of tea was an enjoyable one!
