The Chinese Tea Shop (Vancouver, BC)

A good tasting sheng with interesting flavors. Dry leaf smells smoky and green, while wet leaf smells of camphor and smoke. Flavor is mossy with camphor, but smooth and easily drinkable. Very light sweetness exposes as more infusions are poured.

Smokey, Roasted tea with a very aromatic cinnamon smell. Light astringency if done via Gong Fu style. Enjoyable on cold nights or brisk mornings.

This tea is very mild. It has a faint stone fruit flavour. I was hoping that it would pack a bit more punch, but it’s young. Mildly sweet and a bit floral. Overall, it’s pleasant to drink, but I won’t be running out to get more anytime soon.

The dried tea leaves smell like autumn. A mixture of turning leaves and sweet apple cider. The wet leaves smell like tobacco and damp earth. I’m impressed by the full, silky mouth feel of this tea. It doesn’t have much of the characteristic bitterness of other Ban Zhang teas. It’s mostly sweet, mildly fruity, a bit of leathery notes mixed in with a crisp clean finish. This tea stands up to many steeps and seems to get sweeter as it goes. Lovely tea, I will buy it again!

On first and second tea steepings, this tea has a creamy, grassy taste and a nice buttery mouth feel. It reminded me of a buttery Gyokuru tea. The next few steepings bring out floral flavours. Very enjoyable to drink. a bit pricey so will remain an occasional drinking tea.

sorry my dear followers i forgot to smell the leaves before the steeping and my mom’s bf threw out the leaves so i cannot do a full review :(

when i smell the brewed tea, it smells nice and green.

when i taste the brewed tea, it tastes green and strong honey.

i rate this a 90 because it tastes funny to me :D

when i taste the brewed tea, i taste strong spices and mild honey tastes.

i rate this a 100 because its not as strong as Daniel said it was, but it’s still nice tasting.

I noticed a taste I have never tasted in sheng before, SUGAR! (no actual sugar added). maybe its because this tea is from 2007? I wouldn’t know
