This tea was a total blind buy for me, but I loved the description from the T2 website. So glad I bought it! It’s a lovely tea, with a beautiful subtle chocolate flavour and made even better with the scent and taste of peppermint. I can see myself drinking so many cups of this.
Flavors: Chocolate, Mint, Peppermint, Rooibos
Preparation
I don’t drink a lot of green tea, most of the ones I’ve tried in the past have been too bitter or grassy for my tastes. This one is quite good though, it’s got a lovely sweetness from the strawberries and is more creamy than most green teas I’ve tried before. It’s made me consider checking out more greens in the future.
Flavors: Creamy, Fruity, Green, Strawberry
Preparation
This tea is the perfect blend of sweet and tart, bursting with beautiful berry flavours. Great hot, even better iced. My go-to tea for the warmer months or when I just want a burst of summer in my cup.
Flavors: Berry, Fruity, Raspberry, Strawberry
Preparation
An incredibly rich aroma with strong hints of apple, chicory and cinnamon that is remarkably well-reflected in the pastry-like flavour profile – for anyone who enjoys a bit of home-baked goodness :)
Flavors: Apple, Bread, Cinnamon, Hazelnut
Preparation
I can’t believe my cupboard’s down to less than fifty teas. I can’t remember the last time it was this low.
I’ve been drinking this blend around bedtime a fair bit of late, which may be a little silly as I’m sure it’s riddled with sugar, and yet I have to increase my score a little because it’s not as awful as I first came away thinking. I mean, it IS, but once you expect that sugary sweetness it’s not as bad? If that makes any sense at all?
I spent the whole day watching the entire first season of Sense8 on Netflix, what a joyous gift to finally have it in Australia! Great show too, one I’m already looking forward to rewatching.
Huh.
You know what? This is actually TOO sweet. Whatever sweetness they’ve plied on here, it’s taken it way over the line. This is a candy drink, this isn’t a herbal/fruit infusion. Just settle down, T2. Seriously, they’re headed more and more in this direction lately. I went in the other day to try all the CHRISTMAS/December limited edition blends and as much as I love the butterfly designs and the beautiful tins, the teas themselves were too sickeningly sweet and made up of like twenty different ingredients. Take a fucking chill pill, T2, I’m pretty done with you lately.
I didn’t like any of those new blends either! They seem to be more miscellaneous food items than actual tea.
Got to agree with both Cathy & yourself the last couple of limited releases seem to be moving into Teavana food/sugar/artificial flavour territory. Throwing choc bits & sugar brittles seems to be taking an easy option. I apprieciate that it takes a lot of testing and combining to make natural flavours balance and still be sweet without beiung sickly, but Where they succeeded with their Chai & Cherry Limited Editions this year the failed IMO with their chocolate Limited range as well as banana Limited range.
This is a refreshing green tea. It has a light balance in its color and taste. A perfect green tea to enjoy, it has a more delicate flavor compared to the usual green teas. It is perfect to be drank piping hot, room temperature or chilled with ice. The flavor is certain to please anyone looking for a non flavored green tea.
Preparation
As I mentioned in my last post, I tend to despise Earl Grey. The bergamot is always just too harsh for me to enjoy, despite my best efforts.
When I got to this packet in my T2 sampler today, I almost skipped over it in favor of the more appealing “Creme Brulee”. However, I began to think it through and quickly realized that if I put it off till Monday, when spirits are typically much lower than a happy Friday morning (and I was in a particularly good mood for some reason this morning) then I will continue to delay trying it, and still never be excited about it.
I bit the bullet and steeped up a cup. To my chagrin, I didn’t hate it, but I can say it was among the least favorites of the group so far (looking, at you Ginger Spice). The bergamot wasn’t as bold and off-putting as it is in most blends, which makes it much easier to drink.
Don’t take my decision to NOT recommend this tea to heart. If you’re cool with Earl Grey, you’ll most likely enjoy this light blend.
Flavors: Bergamot
Preparation
I was very apprehensive about this portion of the flavored black tea sampler. Try as I might, I have never really found an Earl Grey that thrilled me, and most of them I find completely unappealing. However, much to my delight, I actually enjoyed this one! The bergamot was balanced by florals (namely hibiscus and rose) and it was quite lovely!
At long last an Early Grey that’s here to stay! (Well, in my cupboard, at least!)
Flavors: Floral, Hibiscus, Rose
Preparation
This is the first tea in the T2 flavored black tea sampler that I’ve felt “ehh” about. It wasn’t bad, just only okay. I tend to prefer my ginger teas as green or herbal and drink them for health reasons, rather than for a morning pick-me-up, so perhaps ginger black teas just aren’t for me.
I do see some comments about adding some sweetener. I’ll have to give that a try in the future!
Flavors: Ginger
Preparation
As you can see from my earlier reviews, I was very skeptical about T2. I have to admit that the smell and look of a lot of these teas did not do them justice. You must taste to believe! I have sincerely been enjoying each one of the flavored black teas included in my sampler set.
Which brings us to today’s. Melbourne Breakfast is a perfect breakfast tea. It reminds me a bit about everything I loved in Harney’s Paris tea the first time I tried it. Straightforward, balanced, not too harsh, and a nice warm vanilla on the finish.
Simple and delightful. Might need to make its way into my morning rotation.
Flavors: Vanilla

Fairly sure this is what I wolfed down 3 sample cuppies of at the T2 shop in Shoreditch; why I didn’t buy it, I can only guess I was being good knowing we’ve just moved house and resolutely do NOT need more stuff to store. Still, a good lung ching! I’d buy it when I’ve got a green gap next in my tea cupboard. No idea under what parameters it was brewed, but it was nice and sweet, low in astringency, with a touch of nuttiness and top notes of a lightly floral fruit. Yeah, this was lovely!
Sipdown (121)!
Thank you VariaTEA for the sample! Because of the dry smell, I opted to cold brew this one and use it all up in one go, for an easier sipdown.
- Dry, this smells VERY berry/grape heavy – definitely a “fruit” tea
- Taste wise, I still get some grape flavour but mostly it’s berries
- And that’s on top of a more bold/strong black base
- ALMOST tasted smokey?
- I wonder what the base in this is or if the sample was somehow contaminated?
Reading the description now, I can see why I kept making grape comparisons; this is meant to, like, be a “Wine” themed tea (definitely red wine). Now that I know that, I can see that and I think would have clearly experienced it drinking it. It also makes me happy I went with a cold route! Cranberry though? I didn’t really distinctly taste cranberry and that’s sorta “my thing” with berry tea, other than like Saskatoons…
I have to admit, the name of this tea drew me to it, above many other of the brightly packaged boxes on T2’s wall. However, after one overpowering whiff of the sample, I recoiled. It seemed to be just too much. Although I can enjoy sweet teas, I assumed this one would be too syrupy and it reminded me of other cake or cookie-inspired teas that I’ve tried and disliked in the past.
I was almost dreading trying this tea in my flavored black tea sampler, but it was next in line, so I prepared to meet my fate today. I could not have been more wrong! Although definitely on the sweeter side, it is just what I needed to get me going on this Thursday. It also reminds me of O Canada! from David’s tea, but with caffeine!
Preparation
I was pleasantly surprised by this tea. It tasted slightly tropical and similar to yesterday’s (Black Rose) in the sampler. It feels almost like a lighter version of yesterday’s tea.
