You know, every time I drink this, it’s perfect. We’ve almost finished up the bag, and even though we both have more tea than we know what to do with, I think I will need to order more very soon.
I think I maybe also bump up my rating every time I drink this, and I’m going to do it again, because it’s just so damned good.
I love this tea. Love love love. The smoke and bergamot are so well balanced. We’re running low already – probably ran through 40g of the 55 I picked up mid November which is quite a feat given just how many teas I’ve got to choose from.)
The smokiness is different from lapsang souchong – more neutral, not piney.
I will need to put in an order with Say Tea when this is gone, even though they don’t have an online shopping cart. It’s that good.
Flavors: Bergamot, Smoke
Preparation
Ah this is rapidly becoming one of my favourite Earl Greys. Both the smoke and the bergamot are present in perfect balance. I’ve left this at my partner’s house, which I think is a good plan, since I’ve been mostly drinking new stuff at home and not my favourites.
Oh this is so good. So happy-making first thing in the morning. I let this cool a fair bit and then just gulped it down.
I’ve left my bag of it at my partner’s place, but I need to bring some home for those days when I just need something straightforward and predictable.
It’s dangerously close to accurate. I usually carry around a bag that has at least a few teas in it, and I leave stuff at my partner’s place, left some teas with a friend tonight and there are tea packages scattered all over my apartment.
Oh, delicious! It is exactly what it says, Early Grey with a hint of smoke. The smokiness is there, without being overpowering at all, and it’s balanced well with the bergamot which is fairly robust – just the way I like it. The black base is nothing special but it works very well as a base, and it pleasant.
It’s like Lapsang Souchong and Earl Grey had a perfect, delicious baby.
Flavors: Bergamot, Smoke
Preparation
This oolong is so wonderful. I threw a teaspoon of this into my travel mug for going out and about toady. This time the oolong tasted buttery, overlaid with sweet goji and jasmine, with a hint of pleasant bitterness.
I am so, so glad I discovered this tea.
Flavors: Bitter, Butter, Goji, Jasmine, Sweet
Preparation
Oh this is freaking amazing. It’s not too complicated – jasmine, goji berry and a slightly roasty oolong that are both distinct but compliment each other perfectly.
I got two good steeps out of this and was going to go for a third, except I accidentally knocked my steeping basket all over the floor.
This is beautiful and unique and definitely going to be a staple.
Flavors: Goji, Green, Jasmine, Roasted
Preparation
I’m not giving this one a number rating because I suspect that if I caught the right way ot brew this, it would be amazing. However after three attempts I have decided that I do not have the skills with this one. First cup I got a bland dull green tea with no lemon at all, and second steep on the leaves wasn’t much better. Second time I tried I got a strong green again with no lemon at all. And tonight when I tried again I found the lemon, but had oversteeped and it didn’t taste lovely at all. So farewell fair tea, and big thanks to De who was generous enough to let me steal some from her stash!
I was half asleep this morning when brewing my tea and put this one in the infuser instead of the French Vanilla I’d been planning on. Oh well, an herbal for breakfast isn’t a bad thing! Especially when it smells almost exactly like David’s Forever Nuts, one of my favourite must-haves. Brewed I found it light but lovely, exactly like the dessert the tea professes to emulate. There are hints of cinnamon and sugar and all those delightful things that I love in a dessert, minus the grease of the actual cakes. I can see why people enjoy this one, although I’m not sure if I like it more than my Forever Nuts.
Preparation
Yum! I wish I could find a description of the tea online (Say Tea! y u no update website?), because this is a very tasty fruit and nut blend. It reminds me of DT’s Forever Nuts without the beetroot. It’s naturally sweet and very delicious.
Preparation
Mmmmm. Continuing with my berry obsession as of late, I reached for a bag of this, as I hadn’t tried it yet. It is delicious. It’s like Earl’s Garden without the yucky bergamot ;). It’s juicy and strong without being bitter or artificial. Yum yum yum. I accidentally let some of it get cold, and it was just as good “iced”. This is definitely one to restock when we return to Say Tea.
Preparation
Not bad. Definitely need short steeps, but I managed to avoid bitterness, yay! A fruity tea, but I tasted more rose flavour than strawberry, with a bit of a perfumey aftertaste. Not terrible, but I don’t think I’ll be reaching for it again.
Preparation
I had an awful night and woke up craving the comfort of a creamy vanilla black, so I immediately reached for this one.
I was having some intense tummy trouble at 3 am this morning that was so bad that I managed to pinch a nerve in my back. My shoulder is swollen, my neck can’t move, my arm is numb, and the pain is so intense that it had knocked the wind out of me when I moved unexpectedly and set it off. If it isn’t any better by the time my wife gets home from work, I think I’m going to go to emerg.
So yeah, I’m more than a little grumpy. Figuring I’ve earned it, I added splash of eggnog to the tea. Not really an eggnog latte, just eggnog in the place of milk. It’s goooood. Definitely the treat I was craving. Now to go change the popsicles on my back.
oooh i need to get out to this company sooner rather than later! sounds good! and i hope you feel better.
My wife fussed at me until I let her take me to emerg. I’m okay, just sore and hopped up on pain meds. Hopefully I’ll get sleep tonight.
Oh, this is lovely. After an afternoon of terrible food, I was falling asleep, so I reached for something to wake up a bit. I tried this one and I am in love. I’ve found my vanilla blacks, both decaf and caf. Wonderful.
This tea is creamy and sweet without being overly so. The tea has its own presence as well, mingling to make a perfect little tea.
Once upon a time, in the far away land of Bloor West Village, there was a little tea shop called Say Tea. Unfortunately, from the cup I just had it looks like “once upon a time” means “five years ago” which means a stale and bitter cup. Join me in mourning our fallen comrade. I should have drunk you earlier.
Preparation
I forgot how much I love this tea. For a long time it was my go-to (although apparently I am just craving lemon lately). It has this amazing soothing lemon scent – like NeoCitran without the medicine – but the taste itself is almost pure smoky green tea goodness, that sort of dark green that’s more like an oolong. I made it in one of the new David’s mason jars, which is perfect for keeping a nice head of lemon-scented steam so every sip I take is aromatherapy.
Flavors: Earth, Lemon Zest
