I took this to a tea party once and out of over 20 teas available, this was the most requested. Very berry without tasting fake and has the most delicious blueberry smell. Don’t be tempted to make it a blueberry cream drink as the acidity will instantly curdle any dairy added to it.
So I looked thru my tea cabinet and spied this tea. I had one mini cake left so I figured I’d finish it off today. I’ve had this tea for a very long time. I bought this since I had never tried pu-erh before. I remember not enjoying this one at the beginning and it just sat in my cabinet. During the last bits of this tea, I’ve been enjoying it a lot. I’m sad to see this one go, but I feel some sense of accomplishment. I rinsed this cake to loosen it up a bit and steeped it like I usually do. I love the dark chocolate flavor with the mild sweetness mixed with mild bitterness. It doesn’t need additives if you do short steeps, but I think it tastes great with a little milk and sugar. For me, it brings out the chocolate. It is also earthy, and smells almost fishy as I was steeping it. This went away though, thankfully. Good tea overall!!
It has been a long time since I’ve had this tea but today was a good day for it. I think this is the oldest tea in my cupboard but I feel as though it tastes a lot better now then when I tried it for the first time. I steeped it for 1 minute after an initial rinse. It was murky looking but the flavors were delicious. There is a lot of chocolate and light earthy tones to it. I think adding milk enhanced the chocolate. Good overall!! :)
I’ve had this tea for several years now… I wasn’t a big fan of it then, but for some reason I am LOVING this these days. YUM YUM! It tastes great especially with a little milk and sugar. It tastes almost like creamy hot dark chocolate with some earthy nutty tones to it.
I had to increase my rating on this one!
Preparation
I rarely reach for this since it always depends on my mood. It’s raining out, so I reached for this. It smells very earthy and dark, and I love how each mini cake is wrapped up. Very cute >_<! Generally for this tea, I like to infuse in short amounts of time. I usually don’t like the first infusion… it is too bitter and strong, though I imagine it might taste ok if I added milk and sugar. (note to self: try that next time!) The second infusion is my favorite.
On second infusion, it smells earthy and musty but a little sweet too. I love the sweet-like taste I get. The aftertaste is good as well. :)
Preparation
So how much tea does each mini pu-ehr cake make? a pot? a cup?
I have zilch experience when it comes to pu-ehr, unfortunately.
This was my first experience with Pu-ehr! It makes a lot. the first infusion is so dark and i only steep it for a few seconds! You can make a large pot with each mini pu-ehr. I can steep this about 4-5 times with a small teapot (serving size for one) or what I usually do is steep in a regular sized mug 2-3 times. If you want a cake, I can send you one! There are so many. Let me know :)
I’d LOVE to try one! My email is [email protected] drop me a line and I’ll give you my address (I don’t feel comfortable posting it here). You can also have a look at my tea Cupboard and see if there’s anything you’d like in exchange. :)
