I had this tea at my friend Katja´s last October. It was one of the very few black teas she could offer me, so I tried it.
It must have been the “first” time for me the tea comes in “a flow through infuser bag” (so it says on the little rectangular box a single dose comes in), and I´m actually surprised it´s a strange way to describe a … pyramid tea bag ;-) .
Anyhow, my experience with lavender teas is that they are often very powerful, which is not the case here : the lavender aroma´s come through from the dry tea, but once steeped, the earl grey notes take over. This is certainly not the best earl grey I´ve ever tried (I admit I´m quite picky concerning earl grey teas), maybe it´s the lavender addition (cannot quite understand the reason of combining bergamot and lavender), or just the awkward base tea (blend of ceylon and oolong) chosen for this earl grey. The resulting tea is indeed way stronger than what I expect from a good earl grey (more elegant and fragrant than powerful), which is fine for breakfast, not too great for afternoon. But then again, the presentation is original and stylish, which is a plus for a tea bag.

The last of my Sampler from World Market went on vacation with me. Which means I didn’t have my kettle or timer as I would at home so may have not steeped long enough or too long.
I liked it well enough. It’s not a super exciting tea but I would dare to say, it’s one of the more enjoyable English Breakfast teas I have had to start the morning with. Maybe it’s the vacation or beachy surroundings that are influencing me. Maybe I actually steeped it just right for me and should start experimenting at home more with steeping times. It’s a good cup before the long drive home from the beach.

Took this one on vacation with me, so I didn’t have my usual tea kettle or timer so I may have not steeped it long enough. I found the peach faint but the ginger was just right for me. Enjoyed this on the patio of our borrowed beach house on a sunny morning. Nice start to the day.

Flavors: Ginger, Peach

I grabbed a bag of this from a tea box, and it tastes way better than I expected. The fruit is nice and light, and the oolong isn’t really noticeable. The peach flavoring is pretty authentic and tasty. It’s juicy and refreshing – I was impressed! I wouldn’t mind an herbal version of this at all.

We call Revolution “Truck Stop Tea” because it’s the brand of choice on the beverage service counter down at our local Flying J. I liked this one, too.

AJRimmer

I’ve never noticed teas at truck stops before!! That’s fun that they have that as an option!

drank White Pear by Revolution Tea
34 tasting notes

A tea as numbingly uncomplicated and unflavorful as life itself right now, and consumed just as habitually and mindlessly. I collected a bountiful supply of tea courtesy of ashmanra, and this has been my first sipdown project of the year coinciding with the return to academics. I’m one week deep in another semester and watching Cells at Work because one of my professors is a giant weeb and this has awoken a suppressed part of me that also desires to be but without success.

This tea brews a little dark. Steepster recommends a steeping time of four minutes, but the packaging recommends two to three and I personally tear off the string and plop the bag in the cup indefinitely because I’m a neanderthal. I can only touch so many wet strings before it starts to get old, okay. Speaking of wet strings, I just discovered I inadvertently steeped one of the drawstrings of my pajama pants in my tea because my room is so cold that I wedge my warm teacups in my lap or inside my hoodies to sustain me.

As for the tea itself, it doesn’t stand out as anything special. I identify pear in the aroma more than in the flavor. It’s drying, insubstantial, and not very receptive to resteeping. I drank several cups of this one night after a period of time in which I drank very little tea and I was wired for all but maybe two hours of the night. We’ve had some wild times, but I’ll be happy to move on from this tea and on to more enjoyable blends that taste less like pajama pants.

I think I reached the same conclusion about this one. Well, maybe not the pajama strings…

Is it strange that this review made me miss my college days? :)

Another from the Revolution sampler pack- and this one is a winner. I forgot how much I enjoy White teas. I really should pick up more. My stash is lacking.

This one had a lovely pear scent and was delightful to drink. The pear taste was clean and not too heavy. The tea was tasty and smooth.

Picked up a sampler of Revolution teas at Cost Plus World Market when shopping for a Tea Advent Calendar (different company). I loooove the smell of lavender. This tea reminded me of my time in France and Maui at the lavender farms.
The tea is pretty well balanced; not too floral but not weak. Definitely would drink this again.

Ooh, which advent calendar? I’ve ordered 4 so far… (facepalm)

Jen vB

FOUR!!??! I’m pretty certain my partner would raise an eyebrow or two at that. Ohhh but if I could…. I picked up the English Tea Shop calendar at World Market. It was inexpensive compared to the others on my list (next year!)

Cameron B.

I guess I’m an overachiever, hah! I couldn’t decide which one I wanted… I also have a jam advent calendar. (shrugs)

Jen vB

I saw a pasta one and a chocolate one. I was soooo tempted. Jam sounds lovely.

It is hot. HOT. Heat index has been over 100F. No fall temps showing up here. High tomorrow 96F so heat index will be way up again. I am making iced tea almost day and we are downing it just as fast as we can.

We are pretty excited because the low Saturday night is supposed to in the 60’s. We plan to sit outside until we shiver (yes, we are wimps and shiver at 65F when we have been enduring 104F) because we want to get chilly enough to cuddle that teacup!

This one is nice and peachy/fruity. I like hot or cold. I am using three teabags and resteeping, pouring the hot tea over sugar and chilling. It is really refreshing and I am getting a gallon out of each three bags. Yes, it could be stronger but I want to be economical and there is enough flavor to satisfy.

White Antlers

LOL! I am waiting to shiver at 65F, too. We’ve had a lot of rain but it’s made everything more humid rather than lowering the temps. The tea sounds fantastic.

Stay hydrated and cool!

gmathis

Come see us…it’s a few days out, but Wednesday’s high is scheduled to be a lovely 65!

gmathis

(We call Revolution Tea “Truck Stop Tea” because it’s the brand at the coffee station at our local Flying J.)

ashmanra

White Antlers: Ugh, yes! The humidity is what is tearing us up! We have had a rare lower humidity evening here and there and it feels blissful!

Gmathis: Sounds like a fancy truck stop!

It is 99F right now for heat index. Next Wednesday our high is 85 and low is 73. Every day for the next two weeks is sticking in the 80s, mostly mid to high 80s. I’ll trade ya! But Sunday night we should have a low of 63! Happy dance!!!

Many years ago I bought a box of this tea at a grocery store. I tried it and didn’t care for it, so I passed it on to tea friend Sandy, who was also the person who first told me about Steepster. She liked it!

Here I am about seven years later, maybe more, wondering if my tastes have changed enough to enjoy it. Revolution was having a BOGO on their White Pear so I added this to the cart, along with White Pomegranate.

I am happy I bought it because I do like it very much. I have tried it both hot and cold now and it is good both ways. It is fruity but the smokey oolong keeps it from being too sweet to me. The apricot flavor adds a depth and darkness to it that makes the peach taste better, too, in my opinion. Peach can be great or dodgy for me, it has to be just right.

The sachet looks like it makes about 12 ounces rather than the typical teabag 6-8. I resteeped it and mixed the two steeps in a larger pot and sipped on it as my dessert tea tonight. No, the tea was not my dessert. The tea went WITH my dessert. And rather like hobbits, that was first dessert. There will be a second and possibly a third dessert.

Nattie

Haha, I like the way that hobbits do mealtimes (:

tea-sipper

Third dessert! yesssss

One review called this an “adult flavored fruit tea” and it’s pretty spot on. Got a bag from ggmathis and had to order a pack after trying it! Green oolongs with low levels of oxidization aren’t my thing, but I love the maltier ones that veer towards the black tea spectrum. That’s what they use as a base here. A little smoky with a hint of bitterness and absolutely 0 vegetal hues.

The aroma from the dry bags is strong. I left a sandwich bag with 4 in it inside the office kitchen cupboard, and now the entire office kitchen smells like sweet flowery stonefruits. Arguably better than the previous lingering aroma of jerky. The liquor smells fruity as well, but to a lesser extent, because the oolong is potent enough to take the edge off of it. On the first sip, the apricot is pungent on the tongue, followed by the light smoke of the oolong. Mmm. Very fond of this one for a casual cup to sip on throughout the day. Gotta say, though! it tastes better with the clean water at home instead of the water at work that contains so much iron that it stains whatever it sits in.

Flavors: Apricot, Peach, Smoke, Stonefruit, Toasty

I need to retry this. I bought some early in my tea journey and didn’t care for it, and ended up giving it to a friend. (Sandy here on Steepster, who introduced me to Steepster.) i think I would like it now. And I think Harris Teeter carries it, or at least they used to carry it.

gmathis

You know, other than our Flying J (we call this brand “truck stop tea”), I’m not sure I’ve seen whole boxes of this locally. Now I have an excuse for a Natural Grocers run!

I used four bags of this to make a pitcher of tea to drink cold. The box was $2 at TJMaxx, and this is pretty tasty, especially for that price. I definitely get the sweet caramel, and the rooibos is good as well. Neither overpowers the other. I even got a decent resteep from the bags. I’m very pleased with this purchase! I’m pretty surprised by all the negative reviews.

gmathis

Yeah, I flipped back and looked … my original review wasn’t very complimentary. Which is a bummer…honeybush and caramel ought to be a perfect pairing.

I hesitated with this one. It had everything I liked in tea, and had se chung which isn’t your run of the mill base. But then, there were reviews on Amazon that compared this tea to smelly socks.

So here is what I found. If you brew it in short steeps via teabag gong fu, it is an awesome liquor of smooth fruit and floral oolong that you really don’t expect to be good. If you brew it too long, it smells like the dry leaf-over ripe blackberries that caused someone to vomit, and now the smell got into your mouth turning into a flavor of its own.

So, I love this tea in short steeps. I also think it is totally deserving of being called disgusting if I brew it more than 30 seconds. I consider it the tea you drink with gong fu beer goggles for quicky sippings, which is very harsh, especially from me. I will play with it, but I do NOT recommend, which sucks because I like blackberry and jasmine more the apricot and peach.

ashmanra

I gave mine away, and my daughter liked it a lot. I agree with the weird smelly socks assessment.
