Pretty Tea

Very mild flavors although the mango is present. I’m sure this would have been a lot better fresh rather than after sitting in a plastic bag for years. It seems this company has gone under as the website is no longer functional.

I used to drink this tea at work every day. I think the green base makes for a nice, light earl grey-ish tea. You can taste the rose as well, and it complements the other flavors nicely. I have only a few servings left, and I’m savoring them!

Got this one in my mystery box. It’s nice that they give such large servings in the box, but I ended up giving almost all of this to my dad since it just wasn’t my thing. It tastes like mostly nothing. You can add extra marshmallows and a ton of leaf to coax some flavor out, but it’s very bland. Like drinking steeped breakfast cereal or something. My dad says it tastes mildly like chocolate but also a lot like nothing.

Got this as a sample in my mystery box. The label was totally in French, so I had to do some Google tanslations to figure out what I was drinking. I love mango, so I was hoping to taste lots of that. Unfortunately, it tastes like plain tea. It tastes more like a green than a white, but maybe I’m crazy because it seemed grassy to me. I’ve had bai mudan before, and it’s usually much lighter and milder. As someone who basically never drinks plain tea, I wasn’t thrilled.

This is the tea that taught me that I actually do like hibiscus. I got it in a mystery box from Pretty Tea. It was three large teas plus a small sample on sale for like $16 including shipping to the US from Canada. Pretty awesome value. Anyway, the melon cubes in this are so tasty that I always eat them after my tea has brewed. The various fruits blend so well together. The website has said it’s sold out for a while, so hopefully it comes back!

This mostly tastes of rose. There’s a little bit of bergamot hanging around in the background.

And since rose and I don’t get along, I’ll just leave it at that. ;)

I received a sample of this in a recent swap. Normally the word “chai” is enough to dissuade me from trying a tea. Spicy teas, we just don’t mesh well. I took a quick glance at the ingredients and didn’t notice the list of the usual chai spices, only ginger and cinnamon. I love all things coconut and I don’t mind ginger or cinnamon in small doses, so I decided to give this tea a try.

I steeped my sample per the directions on the packet (1.5 tsp in boiling water for 3 minutes), poured it into my travel mug that was partially filled with ice and topped it up with a decent splash of coconut-almond milk. This tea tastes very bread-y to me. It might’ve been the addition of non-dairy milk. The more I drink this tea the more I’m reminded of spice cake batter, like a carrot cake batter minus the carrots and pineapple. It’s nicely spiced but not overwhelmingly so. Despite the addition of coconut-almond milk, the coconut flavor is, unfortunately, barely there. It’s not something that I’d rush out to purchase, but it wasn’t unpleasant. I imagine it would make a nice base for a autumnal smoothie, oatmeal/porridge or baked goods.

I received this as part of mystery box and I knew I wanted to try this iced as opposed to hot. I used about 5tsp for 8oz of water (poured over ice for a total of 16oz) with just a hint of sugar. The result? A delicious, fruity and delightful iced tea! I pick up a stronger blueberry flavor than pomegranate. Coloring is more purple-red then blue.

Pretty Tea sent me this in my Mystery Box and I’m really enjoying it. It’s similar to Creme Earl Grey…sans the Earl Grey-iness of that blend. So as someone who doesn’t particularly enjoy bergamot this is fantastic.

Black & White has a decent vanilla flavor without tasting artificial. The black tea blend is smooth and doesn’t overpower the vanilla. The steeped tea is a nice dark brown.

I enjoyed a cup with vanilla rock sugar and milk.

I really enjoy the fruityness of this which is unusual for a black tea in my experience. It’s very bright tasting and sweet, the raspberry and popcorn bringing up the main notes.
