Sipdown (169/173)!

Well, that’s it for this one – hopefully for a while…

I order in too much (tonight included) so I’m definitely going to try and cut back and maybe, you know, eat the food that I actually have in the house?

VariaTEA

Just so you know, your talk of pizza has made me crave pizza pizza. However, seeing as I am leaving Montreal in a matter of days, I feel that if I order in, it should be food I can only get here. Thus I am really having issues with life :P

MissB

Lol. No street vendors sell pizza? Or poutine pizza? Gosh, I need to stop thinking about the food in Montreal…

VariaTEA

There are lots of places that sell pizza and plenty deliver. There are also poutine places that deliver. However, for some reason, I am craving Pizza Pizza specifically (I think its their doughy crust), but I know when I return to Toronto, I will more than likely be getting Pizza Pizza soon enough. It seems silly to waste one of my last few meals in Montreal on something I can get anywhere.

Suziqzer

Ok, so I know what poutine is.. Was lucky enough to have some when on a trip to visit friends in Canada several years ago & obviously pizza… But what is poutine pizza?!?! Forgive the uninformed American for such a question. I assume it is what it I imagine.

VariaTEA

Haha. Tbh, in my 5 years of living in Montreal, I have not come across a poutine pizza, though I am sure they exist. I have, however, come across a pizza poutine. Also, a poutine burger. And Suziqzer, a poutine pizza would be exactly what it sounds like :P

I feel like I’ve come full circle for the day.

I started the day with a can of this and some microwaved pizza, and now that’s how I’m ending it; can of Nestea and a few slices of Feta & Spinach pizza. Frankly, I’m quite exhausted and once again couldn’t bring myself to cook or ever steep anything. Just whisking my matcha was tiring…

Tomorrow I have family over for Easter, and then my brother is staying with me for a couple days – so not sure how frequently I’ll be on in the next few days. Apologies to anyone I’m in talk with for swaps currently (looking at you 221Tea) – I’ll try to get back to people as often as I can!

221tea

I messaged you back :) But no hurry, enjoy your holiday! You keep cracking me up with your Nestea reviews. I love it.

Started my day with a can of this and some microwaved pizza slices.

I slept for a full 12 hours and felt awesome when I got up, but by the time I was done eating the pizza I felt gross and sleazy again. The two kind of cancelled one another out, I suppose.

The fact I’m drinking this again can only mean one thing…

Yup; I broke and I ordered pizza again. But seriously, it’s good Friday and I just finished a super long shift and the last thing I want to do is cook. Ugh; fuck that shit. Fuck it so hard. This goes with pizza so well though, and the icy coldness of is very refreshing and is making me feel so good and relaxed.

In other news; my Dad/brother are coming up on Sunday for Easter, and then my brother is going to stay over here until Tuesday evening. It feels like such a weird, adult situation; I’m “hosting” my family here at my house, and my brother is coming to visit. It feels really weird and foreign to say or think about, but I’m excited!

Also – our house smells like vomit. That is less exciting.

Tre came home yesterday at like 2 AM piss drink and upset because he went clubbing and A) the people he was with ditched him and B) he couldn’t pick up any girls to bring home. He then proceeded to get sick and vomit on his bed, which he then slept in…

Yuck.

Wishing that my Good Friday had been like yours (the pizza and Nestea after a long shift…not the vomit part). Sounds like a great evening, up until 2 am.

The weird, adult hosting situation is one I have encountered (and will encounter again on Sunday with my own father). Even after multiple years of it…still not used to it, and I cannot move past treating him like a guest, rather than the standard familiarity one might expect from hosting immediate family.

Sipdown (170/172)!

Now that I I’m logging this one, I feel more excited about drinking it. It’s another easy sipdown for me to get in!

I mixed this with a bit of plain vodka (I also picked up vanilla and wildberry vodka) to kind of get my “sea legs” for it again; when I used to drink illegally vodka/whisky were my drinks of choice, but it’s been a long time since then so I’m easing back into it.

It was… ok.

VariaTEA

The one time I got insanely drunk, it was from drinking vodka. I don’t drink vodka anymore.

keychange

Haha. I celebrated my nineteenth birthday a few times…and can no longer drink rum.

Round Two for the evening.

This was the convenient tea option while I was painting my nails.

Does anyone else do that thing where they crack the can open enough that they can suck the pop out of the can but it still visibly looks closed? Tre noticed for the first time tonight that I do that and he was baffled by it. He asked why I do it and I told him I didn’t remember, but that was actually a bold faced lie since I knew he’d mock the real reason.

Truth is I remember very consciously making the observation in around fourth grade that my classmates were all more interesting than me, so I purposefully developed small habits to give myself more “quirks”. Among them were crossing my sevens and only cracking my cans of pop partly open. Now those things are just second nature to me…

Anyone else ever do things to deliberately be quirky and then have those things become real quirks? Or just me?

Sami Kelsh

I cross my sevens. No idea how I drink things out of cans though. For a brief period of my youth, I’d puncture a tiny hole in the bit in the middle of a can with a ballpoint pen or something, then just sort of shake it up and hoover the stream of fizz that I could get out of it. A lot easier just to open the thing, turns out.

Marzipan

I just assume that all of the quirky things I do are normal and other people are weird.

On a whim I decided to search the data base for this one…

Whenever Tre and I order in pizza, we always get the “2for1 Movie” deal, which comes with four cans of pop. Neither of us drink pop regularly, so we get Nestea since this is the “most agreeable” option for both of us – so there’s usually a few cans sitting in our fridge that eventually get drank.

Since we ordered pizza tonight, this holds especially true. I happen to be drinking one of them right now, actually.

Personally, I think that this gets a bad wrap among tea drinkers at the “Steepster” level (by which I mostly mean tea drinkers with lots of knowledge and many types of teas under their metaphorical tasting belts) – sure, it’s highly sweetened – but as a convenient kind of tea I think it’s probably the best in its respective class/market.

I know that personally, I would prefer a glass of this than the typically shitty, over steeped Lipton bagged green tea most restaurants offer. And at least when I’m eating out the average non-tea drinker knows what I mean when I say I’d like a Nestea, unlike when I say “Do you have any oolong?”. That counts for a lot, in my book.

It’s good for what it is.

Isn’t Nestea a Canadian thing? I could be totally thinking of something else but I feel like at some point I learned that in the states their version of iced tea is actual brewed tea on ice, with sugar (or not). I thought that was pretty cool. Because my brother always orders iced tea at restaurants expecting to get this, mor the fountain version and when he ordered it one time they brought him actual brewed tea with ice cubes and he was sadly disappointed. But me, I’m a fan. Perhaps it’s more down south (I think. We were in South Carolina)… Though I feel like even McDonald’s in Maine has real brewed tea vs Nestea. I wonder if an American could confirm or deny my ramblings

Roswell Strange

I’m not sure if Nestea is Canadian – but I know what you’re saying about the sweetened brewed tea in the States. That’s typically more of a Southern thing, I think? So like in Texas…

ohfancythat

I think they did it in Maine too but it’s been awhile!

sundaysipping

I’m in the northeast US and restaurants do both sometimes. Although, whatshesaid is right — iced tea in a restaurant is typically brewed tea over ice, sweetened or unsweetened per your preference. Nestea would appear with the soft drinks and would have to be specifically ordered if you wanted that instead of the standard, brewed iced tea.

K S

I am usually very tolerant of non-steepster approved teas. I drink what tastes good to me OR has memories attached. That is the problem with this for me. As a teen I bought a lot of Nestea instant in a jar. Once I started drinking brewed tea I could no longer tolerate it. My son likes it but I just can’t bring myself to try it.

I don’t know why people here judge this brand of iced tea because, overall, this isn’t tea. It’s basically a refreshing drink with extracts of tea flavored ice fishing. Anyway, Nestea is an inescapable easy to find. When I’m too lazy to go to the grocery store, I stop at the corner store to buy some Nestea bottles. It tastes the same as Brisk but you don’t say anything about it because it’s a Lipton brand. That’s it.
