Kalahari Tea

My last pot of Earl of Africa! I started craving it at work this afternoon, and had none there. Went to make some this evening and realized I only had two bags left. Well, at least I’ve sipdowned something today!

This is a really nice Earl Grey rooibos…if you like rooibos. I find this to be a great afternoon, relax-the-morning-away tea. I’d definitely be interested in getting more in the future. But for now…decupboarding!

From the smell of the bag, I expected to taste a lot more of the bergamot than I am…it’s very light, almost a footnote compared to the rooibos. I think that non-fans of Earl Gray blends would enjoy this version. Very nicely done.

This is my go-to afternoon indulgence tea. With just a half tsp of sugar, it keeps me from snacking at work. The flavors work well together. The chocolate is more pronounced than several loose leaf teas that I have. One of my absolute favs!

Meh. I like their rooibos offerings better.

As the single package I received contained no instructions for brewing, nor were there any immediately available on the webpage for this specific tea, I chose to utilize typical rooibos steeping for this tea: 1 cup of just-boiled water with a steeping time of five minutes. This tea came in a individually-wrapped tea bag, which really did not have much scent while dry. However, from the second I poured the steaming water over the tea, I could smell the delicious mixture of chamomile and spearmint wafting up from my cup.

The smell of the freshly-brewed, bright red liquor was dominantly spearmint. The rooibos could be smelled a bit in the undertones. Nevertheless, the spearmint was not overwhelmingly strong, which was pleasing. It was just a mild, delicious aroma.

Even after steeping for five minutes, the taste of my first sip did not strike me as being very strong, yet it was quite full. Whereas the spearmint dominated the smell, chamomile dominated the flavour, spreading throughout the mouth quite excellently. The aftertaste was a mixture of primarily spearmint with hints of rooibos lurking in the background.

Overall, this was an enjoyable tea, but not something I would be quick to buy again were I shopping for tea.

This is the what we drink at night. It is very relaxing and has a great flavor. It makes a wonderful Chai latte. it is one of my favorite rooibos teas.

It smells like hot cocoa, kinda. Looks like an oolong looking liquid.
Tastes like a pale green tea with mint in it. Not getting much chocolate – if at all. I’m just glad it’s drinkable unlike the last one I had from this company. LOL

It’s alright…probably wouldn’t purchase tho.

First I want to say that I am so glad I got to try this!!!! Eventho I wasn’t a huge fan…still have to try a new tea from a company I have never sampled before. I LOVED the smell of it, but the love stopped there. It smelled like chocolate with a little bit of orange and ginger. When steeping the water turned cloudy/murky/texture-ish grey-green color. The taste is a little flat with hints of chocolate but moreso ginger. Couldn’t taste the orange. They didn’t seem to jive well…regardless still glad I had the opportunity to try!

This is a teabag. This has sencha green tea,peppermint,matcha green tea,dark roasted cacao,and chocolate flavor. This smells like dark chocolate and peppermint. I steeped this a short time just for the scent and color to come forth. I can taste the peppermint and a medium dark chocolate taste and the green teas. This is a pretty decent tea you can taste all of the ingredients. To me it has a twang or a different taste to it that makes me not really think its great, But it’s decent though.

A really good night time treat!

The licorice root comes on very strong with this tea. I can’t taste the chocolate at all, but sometimes it reminds me just a little bit of Dr. Pepper. In a good way.

So this has green tea,cacao,orange,ginger,and chocolate. This smells like ginger and chocolate with abit of orange. I steeped this up. And I can taste some orange and abit of chocolate and some green tea which tasted good but,the ginger was so strong and spicy I did not like this and could not drink a full cup.

I may have a couple bags of this left…..I think I’ll need to buy more!

This is a really great tea for a travel mug. It’s very forgiving of oversteeping.

This is a great tea to dunk into a travel mug and sip on while trying to get teenagers to shut up!!

Doesn’t do anything to get them quiet, but it helps my disposition somewhat.

This is a tea bag. This has dark cacao,roobios,cinnamon,licorice,chicory,cardamom,ginger,cloves,vanilla,and cherry. This mostly smells like spices. I steeped it up just a short time. This tastes like vanilla and cloves possibly. I was worried because I was afraid this was going to be spicy and I dont like spicy teas. I did not taste the chocolate sadly. And luckily i did not taste the roobios because I only like roobios when its subtle. This is pretty decent though.

This is a bagged tea that smells strongly of cinnamon and cloves with the sweet shy scent of chocolate peeping around the corner. I used two tea bags which created a rich red-brown broth tasting strongly of vanilla, cloves and cinnamon with a chocolate taste appearing toward the end of each sip. There is also a strange cool-sharp sweetness that I assume is the licorice. I do not get much of the rooibos, which is a good thing as far as I’m concerned since I don’t like rooibos. It claims to be cherry vanilla but I don’t sense the cherry at all. Overall it is an ok tea for an evening sip. I will try some of their other blends to see what they’re like as well.

Update: It gets more chocolatey and less spicy as it sits. I think it needs time for the volatiles to evaporate and the chocolate to get a firmer seat.

This I’s rooibos with honey and vanilla. The honey and vanilla was just not strong enough.
