I’m in heaven with teas today! I decided to open this tea up since I have managed to finish a lot of tea recently. Oh my goodness! I now remember why I bought this tea! The scent is intoxicatingly delicious.
First off, I love oolong. This one has nice, wiry but thick black/brown dry leaves. The scent is like I just made some coconut milk from a ripe coconut. As for color of the brewed tea, I can’t really comment on this as I was using my green colored tea cup! The scent and flavor of the brewed tea is amazing. It tastes like coconut water… not like the ones you buy from the store (all of them do not taste natural… they taste like there were additives put in there). This one is pure, buttery, and smooth. There was no astringency or bitterness at all. The one thing I noticed is that the taste is not as strong as the scent, which is a good thing.
Wow! Overall, this is a great tea! This is getting excited about my upcoming wedding celebration in the Philippines in January.

WOW! WOW!!!!! WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This feels like I’m drinking oolong for the first time! Brewed in my gaiwan and poured into my little tea cup. It was a nice deep yellow color.
Incredibly tasty and delicious. I wanted to chew on the leaves. I am not usually a coconut flavor fan (although I love coconut plain or cooked into foods), so this one was a very nice surprise. Delicious. Nutty and sweet and coconut (not artificial tasting IMO). So good. I HAVE to buy this. I’m on my 3rd steep.

While I liked this tea, I didn’t like it as much as the vanilla mint tea that Golden Moon also sells. The vanilla taste is not very prominant in the brewed tea in fact I think I think I taste more mint than vanilla. Not a bad tea but there are better vanilla offerings by this company.

Sample 9/31
While I was expecting this tea to be really bitter, I found it it be really light. Not sure if this is because my tea water had cooled a little bit before steeping. Hints of honey with a slight nutty flavor. While I enjoyed this tea I didn’t find it Robust as the description implies.
Preparation
Sampler 8/31
I’m not a fan of the bitterness that usually comes with black tea, so i steeped this on less than the full amount. There was no bitterness to the tea, but not really anything special about it. Did notice some slight honey undertones, but no sandelwood.
Preparation
It smells like powdered vanilla flavored milk. The taste is so mild and there was enough for 2 separate steepings. The first time I had it, I had forgotten about it in the kitchen, and I remember it being mild in taste and not bitter at all. Very forgiving.
This time, I split it between 2 mugs for me and my boyfriend. It is delicious but nothing I would reach for often. Something is strange about the vanilla flavoring. Again… powdered milk with vanilla flavoring…

This tea is has a very delicate taste. As a hot tea I really didn’t get any taste of ginger which was disappointing cause i love ginger. I don’t know if thats because I drink ginger brew all the time (if you don’t know what ginger brew is it’s super gingery soda). As the tea cools down the ginger becomes more apparent. I think this would be really good iced as an alternative to water, as i’m not a fan of straight water.
Preparation
I don’t like straight water either… and as much as I don’t like tisanes w/o true tea added, refigerated ginger water (I call it this cuz it has no liquor lol) is by FAR the best thirst quencher I’ve found. Even more so w/ a bit of lemon juice.
@gmathis, http://www.52teas.com/2010/09/20/apple-vanilla-white-chai/ It’s actually too dark for me for a white… I think it’s due to the shou mei in the blend. So you may want to find an unflavored shou mei if you like the AV chai. Also, definitely make sure you’re using enough leaf. I like 3g/8oz cuppa. The leaves of the Apple Vanilla White Chai are quite small but most white tea leaves are so lengthy and light that it takes over a TB of tea leaf to make up 3g. This is also why I purchased a tea scale… measuring (white specifically) tea by the teaspoon is such a pain in the butt.
Ok, this is a Ceylon tea? It seems the teas I always got with Ceylon were so astringent, I kind of wrote off the variety. This is smooth, rich, robust, and reminds me of a blacker oolong tea I’ve have had. I love that there’s nothing bitter about this tea. This has opened my eyes of what Ceylon varieties can offer.
I added like a touch of milk, but honestly, it needs no additions.
Preparation
Again I had a hard time getting my nose of the package. Leaves smell wonderfully of cinnamon and cloves. Kinda reminds me of mulling spices for apple cider. I love chai so i was looking forward to trying this one.
LOVED THIS TEA. The spices were wonderfully warming on a cold day. The only negative is that there was a strong bitter taste that you get with black teas which i’m not a fan of. Haven’t tried it with cream and honey cause i didn’t have time to fix another cup, but hopefully will try this mixture tomorrow.
And Merry Xmas Everyone XD
Preparation
Yummm…dry leaf smelled exactly like a fresh melon. It has a sweet Italian wine taste to this tea. This makes for a nice combination. Very light, it was tasty iced. Would of been perfect with a slice of cantaloupe. It has a slight honey like taste going on, too.
Preparation
In general, I’m afraid of Pu-erh. I have tried it a few times in the past, and I still own one, but I rarely drink it. When I randomly grabbed one from my sample box, I ended up with pu-erh. Hesitantly, I opened it and put the leaves into the gaiwan. The scent was familiar and earthy but light.
Upon steeping, it brewed a medium-dark red brown. It smells familiar too. The taste was unexpected. It was light and smooth; sweet and malty; earthy but not overwhelmingly so. CHOCOLATE. WOW. I was pleasantly surprised. I steeped this again and again, and it still held up. The brew became lighter and sweeter.
Very good tea :) I got to enjoy my favorite little fish tea cups with them too!

and also my 50th tasting note :)
I LOVE this tea. Like many other’s I had my nose buried in the tea packet smelling delicious sugary caramel goodness. Once I finally got around to brew the tea, it tastes just as wonderful as it smells. Very slightly oolong with a sweet caramel pairing as well. I wish there was a little more oolong, however i’m not sure that a stronger oolong presence would create discord in the mixture of tastes.
This is a perfect tea to curl up to during a blizzard (yay for winter weather)
Preparation
Mmm smells delicious. I would say in advance that it will be smooth. And indeed. Rich full taste. As black tea should be. The good kind ;)
Wouldnt say it’s the best black I’ve tried, RareTea Company tops it, but it’s still quite delicious.
Preparation
It has changed my mind on rose teas! I had a rose tea from Numi that kind of turned me off. With how rich it is, it reminds me of this pound cake I threw some rose water in. I loved it iced. It’s a nice floral, slightly sweet. I could see this at an English afternoon tea while sitting in a cottage garden.
Preparation
It looked really pretty in my little kyusu… but the flavor? where is it? or are my tastebuds gone? It left a buttery oily feeling in my mouth. It is very very light. I didn’t notice any candied pineapple in the notes. Pretty meh.

I really like the vanilla mint tea so I was looking forward to trying this tea. This tea is wonderfully creamy and minty. The jasmine adds a nice taste and fragrance to the tea in edition to the vanilla.

Color is a nice green color. Smells nice and buttery, unfortunately the taste doesn’t go with the smell. Tastes pretty bitter, with a slight buttery pretaste. Second cup no improvement even with cooler water.
Preparation
So I got the gold moon sampler for myself as an early YAY YOUR DONE WITH FINALS present. Actually getting around to trying it now. Very light in flavor almost like a green tea. Slightly buttery. Very enticing floral smells. Taste is lacking a little.
