Dragonwell is one of the finest of the green teas. This organic Dragonwell is one that I can’t seem to keep in my pantry, I love it in the afternoon and early evening. It is smooth, bright and uplifting. I usually get 2-3 brews off the leaves when I am concentrating on a project, it is magic.
Preparation
This was the first loose tea I tried from Foojoy and I liked it quite a lot. Full-bodied but with a delicate flavor, aroma is grassy with a hint of toastiness. I’ve found keeping the brewing temperature lower is important; the aroma becomes unpleasant if it’s too hot, even though the tea does not become too bitter.
Preparation
I’m not going to change my rating for this tea. Its impossible to be remotely objective about it after three days of non-stop gardening. We now have a raised bed (due to invading tree roots) with onions, peppers, cucumbers and an extra tomato plant in it.
If you’re observant, you’ll notice this isn’t the first gardening related post I’ve made about this tea. Its grassy, vegetal and astringent. Imagine drinking a forest of wet trees, and the dirt they’re planted it. Um, next time I’ll try to think of a better metaphor, but in the meantime, try this tea.
Preparation
Its Spring. The peas are beginning to attach their tendrils to the trellis, the lettuce is sprouting. The sword ferns are dying (oops, that wasn’t supposed to happen). Its light later and I’m biking to and from work: tired, light and surrounded by green. Perfect conditions for drinking this slightly ridiculously named tea: noticeably astringent, lightly colored and quite vegetal.
Preparation
I actually bought my first box of this tea while I was in Florida in the World Showcase at Epcot. It’s been a while sice I’ve had it (can’t seem to find it around here), but I remeber it being very nice and light.

Every Asian has probably at one point had a box of Foojoy tea in their house (either that or Yamamotoyama brand) . It’s the tried and true green tea, doesn’t get bitter, and has a surprising full flavor for a teabag. It has a wonderful clear gold brew and smells fresh.
I’m never disappointed brewing it, it’s best for on-the-go travel when you need good tea but don’t have the time for loose leaf.
Used to pick up big tins of this when I lived in San Francisco, California while going to college. It’s okay for what it is. I hardly think the tea has ever been stored properly. I used to see the cans parked in shop windows. :) You could even buy “gift sets!” It smelled like jasmine, sort of.
It’s an average tasting Jasmine tea. Not overpowering like other Jasmine teas. The tea leafs look good like an orange pekoe grade. When it steeps it looks like a green tea. Probably a green tea base Jasmine. Not my favorite but I will drink it from time to time.
Preparation
Not cheap, but not too shabby either. I like greens in the afternoons, and this is so yummy.
One of the worst jasmine tea I ever drink.
I even wondered if there is really some jasmine in it…
Preparation
I felt like the tea is a delicious jasmine. Its nothing special, but its a delightful basic cup for someone who’s in the mood for something floral.
To be honest, I got nothing floral in it, just a bit of bitter at the beginning, and just plain flavor after that. Afterwards I have this slight sweetness, but nothing much I am talking about really faint. I have just gotten into tea, and I really hope that lighter teas like silver needle won’t be this faint and plain in flavor.
There weren’t any directions on the teabag packaging, so I didn’t know how long to steep this, and at which water temperature I should do so. The resulting tea was fairly mild, with a mahogany-honey color, and a smooth feeling on the palate. This isn’t a particularly aromatic tea, and the taste is fairly average. I would have probably enjoyed this one better if I would have steeped it a bit more; the texture was a bit watery for my tastes.
I think I’m starting to really enjoy oolongs. I can’t wait to try a loose leaf variety; they seem to have the robust flavors of black teas, with the lightness and easy drinkability of the greens. Tell me if I’m wrong!
As for the weight-loss properties, I’m really not interested. I’m actually trying to gain weight, not lose it, so I’m probably going to steer clear of this one for a while.Preparation
As far as I know, the majority of the supposed health benefits of tea have never actually been put to proper scientific study that wasn’t sponsored by the tea business. At least that’s what I’ve been told.
I’ve heard the weight loss thing about pu-ehrs too, but like you I don’t look for anything else in my tea than a good flavour primarily and a high quality secondarily.
