This tea blows me away! I really REALLY like it. It is so different. The flavors are so intense, and it is such an “odd” combination of flavors, but it works so well together.
The white tea is surprisingly strong. It is sweet and even a little creamy!
This tea is full of surprises though. I would say that this tea is a must try for anyone who likes unusual blends! This one is perhaps the most unusual that I’ve tried yet!
This is a really surprising tisane. I expected this to come off as very spicy-hot-peppery, but it really isn’t quite as STRONG (and by strong, I mean “this is so overwhelmingly ginger-y that I can’t drink it, strong”) as I thought it would be. It is very calming and comforting (I’ve been battling a stomach ailment over the last couple of days), and I’m finding this to be extremely calming to my stomach. I like it a lot! It’s simple and pure, but, sometimes, that’s just perfect.
You know, while brewing this tea, I got to thinking about my yixing mugs. I originally bought just one which was intended for my Ali Shan Oolongs. Then I bought a second one for my Yellow Teas because even though I don’t drink them often, they are my favorite and I wanted it to be an occasion when I sipped them, complete with a special mug. Finally, just a few months ago, I decided to buy another Yixing mug for my jasmine teas… and even though this one is quite a bit newer than the other two, I have used it more than both of them combined! This tells me that I need to start drinking more Ali Shan and Yellow teas.
Anyway… this is a lovely jasmine. Smooth and rich texture. Amazing fragrance. Delicious floral notes and fresh vegetative tone. Such a beautiful, beautiful tea.
I really had no idea what to think about this one!
Glad I went in blind! I would have NEVER been able to pin-point this one!!!
I could taste the white tea more than the green tea…I would have never guessed that! But you know what I really like it that way! I could taste the Ginger, Cloves, Anise, and Raspberries individually but also blended together to create it’s own flavor, too. I could taste the black pepper but more in the after taste and not so much during the sip. The jasmine lingers a little, but again, not so much jasmine happening during the actual sip. There is so much going on here with these flavors in this tea blend! It’s really amazing in the fact that it’s so unique and unlike any other white/green blend I have ever tasted! The aroma is intensely raspberry and ginger but once infused so many other ingredients come out to play and as an end result the overall tea experience was a surprise and a very groovy experience, I must say. If you could trip on tea…this one will take you for a ride! A very memorable blend, here, folks!
A wonderful Assam – just what I needed today. It has a remarkable caramel-y sweetness to it. Very smooth, malty and rich. Biscuit-y, toothsome quality. Delicious neat, also nice with milk and honey. The creaminess of the milk really enhances the malty tones quite nicely.
2nd infusion: a bit smoother and not quite as hefty as the first infusion, but with the shedding of some heft comes a delicious, gentle spice-like undertone. After taking my first sip of this 2nd infusion, I decided that it would make a great pairing with my favorite cracker: http://tinyurl.com/4xgvf3t
Awesome! Nicely done mint flavored white…not too over the top with the mint but very soothing and satisfying! A very good one! Very refreshing, very relaxing! Would enjoy often! :)
Tasty both hot and cold!
SIPDOWN and Back logging – this will be missed…see previous notes…
What is SIPDOWN & Backlogging? If you miss this tea go to: uptontea.com, and search item #TA41 or Satrupa.
Sipdown – is when you finish up the last of your stash of a specific tea.
Backlogging – is when you drank a specific tea prior and didn’t get to log the cuppa…but still want to note that you drank it…
Hope that helps!
Thanks…..some people list a number like Sipdown 25. For instance TAKGOTI’s most current entry listed one. Hope my info for the Satrupa Assam helps, if you want to enjoy that tea again. Also, on “Sororitea Sisters”, can I limit my search to only your teas reviewed or Liberteas reviews? I can’t always tell who reviewed the teas. Maybe I’m just not looking in the right place. Thanks :)
Dry – this had an interesting yet Unidentifiable aroma to it tied in with an lovely assam aroma. It has a gorgeous color to it…a medium brown with an orange tint to it. The post infusion aroma is a slightly chewy assam. The taste is AMAZING! It’s like a sweeter assam but it also has a smidge of bitterness to it but it’s the bitterness one would crave and not one that would be ‘in the way’ or ‘interrupting’ the flavor…it contributes to it. It has a nice even slipperiness to it, too…very nice! I really like this one!
The flavor profile was a little strong on this one. It primarily tastes like banana with a coconut backdrop. The tea base was a bit heavy. Something was a little off here for me, but I think this is a good one for experimentation with a splash of coconut milk or infusing in a couple ounces of coconut water.
Preparation
This was my choice for the Monday morning to-go cup. I’ve reviewed this tea before, and all I can add to my previous thoughts was that this tea is very… buttery. Yes, it tastes like sweet cream butter. And almonds. But in a good way, if that makes sense.
Preparation
I absolutely love the way these leaves smell. Nutty, sweet, chocolatey, but mostly caramel.
The tea itself is a little different, but not by much. It tastes very faintly of chocolate and caramel, with a strong almond-like flavor over it. I sort of wish those flavors were a little stronger, but the black tea base is nice as well. It gets bitter if brewed past five minutes, otherwise it’s pretty mellow and pleasant. Not harsh at all.
I’m still struggling a little with the tea/water ratios with my triniTea. I’m thinking a teaspoon and a half of tea for every cup?
I LOVE both raspberry and ginger! Would be good as a base for lemonade?!
