2023 sipdown no. 107

The flavour leans toward raspberry jam, without any lingering tartness. I believe it’s meant to be strawberry, but I would expect maybe a touch more sweetness for a true strawberry flavour. Granted, it also has black currant so perhaps that’s how I’m getting raspberry. It’s very flavourful without anything fake or cloying — quite a feat for a bagged tea. I also love the bright red colour. Thanks Martin!

To be honest, I am not such a fan of this. Probably too much hibiscus in this blend for me.

I have this tea for almost an year and from 25 tea bags I used the 6th today. Mostly because it is indeed filled very much with hibiscus and then the red berries.

Imagine red currants, raspberries, red apples and maybe other red fruits all mixed in one tea bag. Candy-like. Short steeping time was the key to tame the hibiscus but it is still quite tart.

Not much a fan. But that is probably my personal preference.

A sipdown! (M: 2, Y: 30)

An office tea is gone. I just used very last bag in my mug today and I am sad. This was, considering it’s a tea bag, great Earl Grey. Nice level of citrusy notes, great and robust tea base from Rwanda. Yes, two minutes steep is sufficient.

Now, I need to get plain Rwandan tea to try that too.

Have you tried any Tanzanian tea? A colleague brought some (plain black tea in bags) and it was tasty. And Harney sells a black looseleaf Assamica grown in Colombia, which was decent, too! At some point I’ll make an order from the startup in Mississippi (USA) which also has a well-tended fb page.

I don’t think so! Getting decent african teas is quite hard. And if I ever make order from What-cha again; it means customs fees and duties, which is, quite annoying.

Martin just can’t go through the mall without checking shops with tea. That’s how I ended up getting two Birchall teas. I bought it last week during stay in Prague for training. A bit more expensive, but Rwandan tea base sold it to me.

And moreover I ran out of flavoured black teas in the office. And I want to bring this one there. But… it is still at home and I am drinking it quite often. It’s quite simple, but well done EG. Robust tea base, but somehow refreshing and well done bergamot flavour. It is not too strong, nor too weak. As I never had bergamot itself, it is hard to find out if it is genuine; but well, it is how I expect EG to be like. Little citrusy, little pine-y.

Good one and affordable. But a bit harder to get for me.

Ooh, not sure I’ve ever had tea from Rwanda before! Good to know there are tea shops in Prague I need to look out for if I ever get there!

There certainly are many… but this is from Delmart, something like M&S. And actually this brand is British :)

I absolutely adore this tea. This is the first time that I’m trying green tea combined with jasmine flowers (usually Chinese restaurants offer the stronger black tea with jasmine flowers). This tea is super light, very refreshing, and is perfect for a cold day or a good morning wakeup.
