A super-yum desserty tea that needs no sweetening. Repeat: no sweetening. I was still on my milk & sugar kick when I first tried my sample from Scheherazade yesterday and it was so sweet I almost died. No joke. I ALMOST DIED. (Ok I’m exaggerating.)
Today I’m drinking half ten, half eleven. I want to call it “sandshoes & grandad”, either that or 10.5 I guess? Did ten’s clone left with Rose even have an official name? I really gotta go back and watch that season again, and bawl my eyes out again. That’d be fun.
Today I’m drinking half ten, half eleven (thanks to Scheherazade and her generous swappage). I want to call it “sandshoes & grandad”, either that or 10.5 I guess?
I like Eleven—I like the flavours in it. A little touch of sweetener and milk makes Eleven just lovely. (I like him a little more with Ten, though. This is all reflecting my feelings on the actual doctors, which makes me grin.)
TTB&C #6
Adagio and I tend not to get along. I am not sure why. Most teas I have tried are either meh or teas I just really do not want to drink again. I have had more success with the fandom blends and this is one that I have read a lot about that I really wanted to try. This was decent. It was a decent earl grey. I am not sure what to say about it. The flavors baffled me a bit this morning. It was EGC -ish, but there was a hint of something else that I could never put my figure on. If someone gave me more of this tea I would definitely enjoy it. I am not sure I would hunt this out to purchase, but I definitely won’t pass up another cup.
Preparation
Oh, this is interesting! Even/especially with the floaty apple bits that are supposed to be reminiscent of floating eyeballs :P It’s a slightly spicy puerh – I can taste the cinnamon, ginger and even a little bit of the anise.
Thumbs-up: approved.
This is my last Avengers tea! :O :O :O
It’s been incredibly fun trying them all. This one is rich and smoky but sadly tastes mostly of lapsang souchong. You know what would jazz it up? Hot cinnamon.
Of course if you just want a straight black, this would work nicely.
Thanks Shmiracles! :) (176)
Mmmmm…. this mostly tastes like chamomile. I get that it’s because Bruce needs to stay calm so he doesn’t hulk out but it totally goes against the “I’m always angry” reveal in Avengers.
So it’s a good, soothing tea but not one I would crave often. Maybe before bed?
But the hulk should totally be an always angry tea I think.
MOAR Avengers!
Ok, this one is also pretty great, but it’s Phil, so I expected greatness.
Can I make a small confession? When I first watched Avengers I really didn’t know much about Phil… That was quickly rectified after reading a few Avengers fanfics because Coulson is so freakin’ amazing. He’s an Avengers wrangler and that is no easy feat.
How does it taste? It has lots of roasty mate goodness that makes me think of brisk coffee in the morning, and there’s also a little bit of caramel/nuttiness to add more depth. It’s good, but it’s mostly mate so if that isn’t your thing, stay away.
I think I enjoyed Thor a bit more because of the soft apricot/peach notes, but this is very close…
Thanks Shmiracles!

ETA: Holy. I’m at 178 teas and it’s only the 6th! Guess 150 isn’t too unreasonable a goal for April 30th!
Hahah. Well 4 tins from A&D will stay in my cupboard for a year probably, but only increase my number by 4!
And my Steeped and Infused order is mostly samples so easy in and out I hope?
Oh man… guess we’ll see! I probably won’t catch up to you soon, but I AM hoping to slow down on orders. I keep saying that. I keep hoping.
Phil was created for the Iron Man/Thor/Avengers movies. and then he died and everyone missed him and now he’s in the cartoons and everything. Cuz he is The Best! and this tea is The Best!
i keep drinking it all and buying more!
and i barely ever never do that!
I remember seeing him in the Ironman movie as a small character but when he died in Avengers I just did not see why everyone was so torn apart about it? But then I read the fic and now I feel the pain when I see it, or I would except it’s pretty much headcanon now that he’s not dead.
I really enjoyed this but I don’t drink a lot of mate so if I ordered more I’d probably go for Thor? But it would be a very close decision. Maybe I’d alternate…
A sample from Shmiracles. I saved this one until last because I was scared of it. Understandably so, I think…lapsang souchong, candy cane and ginger isn’t exactly an everyday combination. At least not for me. I’m up for trying anything once, though.
Brewed, this smells equally of smoke and vanilla. It’s an odd combination, and just as odd to taste. The main flavour is, of course, the heavy, beef jerky smokiness of lapsang souchong. The candy cane comes out in the aftertaste, adding a cooling, almost menthol-like, freshness. The vanilla also contributes a slight sweetness. It’s not exactly a natural pairing, but it’s actually not as disasterous as I thought it would be. As dragon themed teas go, I suppose it’s fairly appropriate — in terms of smokiness at least. What candy cane has to do with it, I’ve no idea. I can’t really taste the ginger at all, which is a shame. That I could see working quite well.
Of the two Smaug teas I’ve tried, I definitely prefer the 52Teas version. Smoky teas aren’t really my thing in general, although this was more drinkable than I’d anticipated. A totally unique tea, and an experience for sure! Many thanks to Shmiracles for sharing this one-of-a-kind blend with me! I completely agree that everyone should try it at least once.
Preparation
OMG. Yes.
I didn’t want to push my Avengers tea binge too much further because I was worried I’d start to rush through and not enjoy them, but I am ENJOYING this tea.
It’s thai chai! Creamy coconut and lemon grass! I guess there’s black tea in there too which help make it a little bolder than it might be otherwise but I am totally digging this. YES.
Thank you Shmiracles! (179)
3/5 Avengers added to shopping list so far
i like this tea i do. but really it does not taste like Clint to me. i keep considering just switching the label on the canister with the derek hale tea i bought hahah. shhhh. more leather. and growl.
(i guess i would remove the lemongrass is what i’m saying?) (whatevs. i’m no expert.)
Hooo boy, this is American! American like Apple Pie! But it’s Apple Pie with attitude (i.e., cardamom and ginger and cinnamon!). It’s tasty!
I did Tony, so it’s time for Steve. I’ve had 4 of the Avengers already – can I squeeze in any more tonight?
So much tea. (What did you guys think I was talking about?)
Thank you Shmiracles! I hope Ozli enjoys the rest of it. :D (180)
Phew. This one does not immediately go onto my re-order list which is a relief because I’ve already got Loki and Thor and haven’t tried the rest, and at 3 oz a tea, how many can one reasonably order just for oneself?
This is good, don’t get me wrong. It’s bold. It’s flashy and in your face, and… well that’s Tony? There might be the faintest sweetness in there, although I’m sure that would be aboslutely denied if directly pointed out… This just isn’t one I would crave very often.
Thank you Shmiracles! The rest of this is off to ozli! (181)
Wow. This smells so amazing. I’m not really a huge of jasmine, but I DO like spearmint and gunpowder tea, and these really, really blend well together. I’m even enjoying the jasmine in it.
OMG. So, so far I want to buy Thor and Loki teas. They’re in a ‘ship so I will save a little on them, but… what if I end up wanting to buy ALL the Avengers teas? I’m a little worried about continuing on…
SO GOOD.
This tea just screams “GREEN” to me and makes me think of Loki’s green eyes. Ok, I’ll have to send the rest to Ozli!
Thank you Shmiracles!
Maybe? That’d be cool, but WHO DO YOU EXCLUDE?
“Sorry Mr. Barton. You were… er.. not invited to this box set.”
“I like it. ANOTHER” ran through my head as I finished up my cup of Cecil, and with those thoughts in my brain, how can I NOT choose Thor?
I had to. It’s friggin Thor and he will not be refused.
Does anyone else find that Avengers fic reads like it’s very fast paced and the narration would leave you breathless if you read it aloud? Just a thought.
So, this tea:
I was surprised that the rec steep temp was 185, but who am I to argue with Cara about her blend? I will do what I’m told. Except I over steeped this..
But it’s ok! It tastes like dark rich mate with peach notes! And apricot! The mate is so roasty and rich that it really reminds me of coffee, but I expect that’s from steeping it twice as long as requested.
Thank you Shmiracles! My avengers tea tasting is off to a fantastic start!
ETA: Finishing my cup. Still loving every sip.
Preparation
thank you shmiracles All i really got from this one was a lapsang cup of tea. Not the worst i’ve had, but not the best either…and for a custom blend, i want something more! the currant flavour in this one just wasn’t anywhere to be found. ah well.. there were others i like better! :) still good to have though
Shimiracles sent this my way and it’s quite tasty. I wish i’d realised it was a chai like sort of blend to try it with milk earlier, but that’s ok. I quite like the flavouring on this one as the cardamom is totally there saying HAAALLLLOO! the apple helps to smooth out the cinnamon flavouring so that it doesn’t come across as another apple cinnamon sort of tea. The ginger adds a bit of body to this one but as always, isn’t overly ginger. I quite like this one. thanks a bunch shmiracles!
