45 Tasting Notes
Finishing up the last of this. I’m just not tasting the berry here – it’s more like a mild blended black tea. It’s good (if I were tasting it blind I’d probably give it a better rating) but there are better alternatives for that sort of thing.
(EDIT: Just noticed my last several reviews were all disappointed. Been drinking a lot of African Sunrise (yum) and Chocolate Mint Black (yum) … I’ve probably already reviewed the best stuff in the tea drawer and now am just finishing up the things I rarely drink.)
Flavors: Tea
When first brewed it has an overwhelming cinnamon smell. After it cools down for a bit I’m tasting mostly cinnamon with an aftertaste that I think is the rooibos. It might be good if prepared chai-style with milk/sugar, but taken plain it’s rather underwhelming.
Flavors: Cinnamon, Rooibos
(60 = I think maybe I don’t like rose tea?) This “tea” is essentially a jar full of rosebuds and I’m not sure what to do with them. I put 4 buds in a teaball and infused for 4-5min, it still had a light flavor. Might be good cold or possibly mixing the roses into a loose black tea.
Flavors: Floral, Rose, Sweet

(note: I’m not sure if this is the correct MF Darjeeling; I’m using the original tin to store things in the office so will double-check and cut/paste the review elsewhere if necessary)
Was finally in the mood for that last leetle bit of Darjeeling sitting in a leetle glass jar in the back of my tea drawer. The black tea has a rich flavor with a faint not-unpleasant bitterness at the end (reminds me vaguely of bergemot but I’m pretty sure that’s not it). I don’t really know what else to say about it because I don’t have a big tea-describing vocabulary. It’s good!
Flavors: Tea
A good basic chai. Taste is primarily vanilla with the spices appearing afterwards. I did a fairly short steep because I don’t like my black tea getting bitter, but it probably gets more “spiced” and less vanilla with longer brewing. Best with milk or equivalent.
Initially picked this up because I was at my local grocery/cafe and didn’t like any of the hot teas on the menu. Am slightly distrustful of anything that says decaf (it probably isn’t, not entirely) so this will remain a morning/weekend tea.
Flavors: Spices, Tea, Vanilla
Preparation
The dried tea has such a rich cherry scent that I was tempted to just forget the hot water and eat it out of the packet. :D Once brewed there’s a strong cherry/mixed berry flavor, although IMO too much of a tart hibiscus aftertaste. But if you’re okay with that sort of thing then I definitely recommend it.
This was my free monthly sample when I ordered from NMTeaCo online . (I love cherry but don’t like hibiscus-based fruit teas so it could have gone either way.) It’s quite a generous sample, the packet looks like it has at least 4-5 servings.
